Meet the Death Ranger

I'm not a big fan of ranged monsters because I hate the disadvantage of them not being able to attack in first position and for that reason the Keep Your Distance and Going to the Distance rules are my least favorite in Splinterlands.

Today I'm going to talk about the Death Ranger, a great low-mana ally that will be very useful in the Keep Your Distance and Going to the Distance rules.

In the Going to the Distance rule, players can only use monsters that have a ranged attack in battle.

In the Keep Your Distance rule, players cannot use monsters with melee attacks in battle, only monsters with magic attacks, ranged attacks or those that have no attack are allowed in battle.

Now let's talk about how Death Ranger can be useful in these battle rules.

The Death Ranger only costs 4 mana to use in battle and it will be useful as the main defense in the first position since it will be able to attack in this position even though it is a monster with a ranged attack and because it has a large amount of armor that will be very useful against all types of attacks.

To better understand how the Death Ranger works, I will explain its abilities.

In total, the Death Ranger has 3 abilities and they are: Void, Close Range and Scavenger.

The Void ability makes the Death Ranger's armor useful against magical attacks, basically this means that monsters with magical attacks will have to destroy the armor first to cause damage to the Death Ranger's health.

The Close Range ability makes the Death Ranger able to attack in the first position. Monsters with a ranged attack cannot attack in the first position and that is why the Close Range ability is necessary for this to happen.

The Scavenger ability makes the Death Ranger gain +1 life whenever a monster is defeated in battle, this includes allied monsters as well.

If we use the Death Ranger at maximum level as an example, then he will have 4 life and 7 armor, this means that it is as if he had 11 life and this is a lot for a monster that costs only 4 mana and in addition he will also be able to gain more life with the Scavenger ability.

In my opinion, the Death Ranger is one of the best options in the Going to the Distance rule when the battle has little mana available, in the Keep Your Distance rule there are other options that may be better than the Death Ranger but he is still a great choice.

My current goal in Splinterlands is to get all the current reward cards to max level and doing that with the Death Ranger won't be easy because legendary cards are hard to come by, but I hope to get it done before a new set of reward cards is released.
