And so they'll probably end up getting sold to large corporations,

Or sell to government who can then pave over the landscape with 100 million more houses.

Being asset rich doesn't mean one is actually rich, though. A lot of these farmers are barely scraping by like anyone else. So to then tax them an immense amount they literally don't have, they're forcing them to give up generations of life and start an office job like a good little worker drone. Then, ideally, we can import all our grain from countries that are largely hostile to us and significantly less carbon clean.

It's about as terrible as the rest of the budget (which is terrible, but not quite as terrible as people expected)
