Ethicoins: Story, Charity and Team

After reading my previous article, you will have understood very well that I really like the project, especially for my background on charity.

As I wrote, I had opportunity to speak with two members of the Team, Francesca first and Mauro after; their professionalism and trust in the project made me understand the underlying values well. Those who have visited the site will surely have noticed that some members of the Team have titles, for example: Mauro is Knight of Grace and Alberto Domenico is Don of Merì of Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller of Malta.

What does it mean?

We have to take a step back (maybe even a few more) and we have to go back in IX (9°) century.

The Knights of Malta, known as the time as the “Knights Hospitaller”, founded an hospital in Jerusalem to assist pilgrims of any religion and origin.

The charitable works of these Knights, became more and more important until, in 1113, Pope Paschal II officially recognized the monastic community as a lay religious order.

The Pope indicates Blessed Gerard as funder of the order, assisted by a group of monks- the “Professed”- who still today constitute the soul of the Order od Malta.

Over the centuries, the number of members from all over Europe exponentially increased strengthening the presence of the Order of Malta were part of the aristocratic class, then with the shifted to the Nobility of Spirit and Behavior.

The motto of this Order, and only once, embodies a fundamental rule of civil life: “Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum” which could be translated from Latin as “Defend the Faith and assist the poor and sick”.

Putting Faith and Energy in this philosophy allowed the Order to transform itself into 120 different realities through the implementation of humanitarian and social assistance projects.

The Order of Malta is divided into 3 classes.

At the First class belong the Knights of Justice (the same “Professed” who, as I explained earlier, are the soul of the Order) and the Conventual Chaplains; those belonging to this class are religious in all respects as they have professed the vows of chastity, obedience and poverty.

To the second class belong the members who, by the virtue of the Promise are obliged to live according to Christian principles and those to the spirit of Order; in this class there are 3 representative figures:

• The Knights and Dames of Honor and Devotion in Obedience
• The Knights and Dames of Grace and Devotion in Obedience
• The Knights and Dames of Magistral Grace in Obedience

The lay members who do not take religious vows belong to the third class.

The Knight of Grace, and also the Ethicoins’ CEO, Mauro Marasca was invested with this position in the 2018 and he has, during his investiture, the idea of this organization sustained in totally from prominent figures of the Order of the Knights of Malta.

The idea was created for giving an answer to a big problem: as all of us know, not always the funds collected in charity campaigns come to real destination (you know understand why Mauro and me are on the same wavelength!)

In Mauro’s mind born in this way a big idea: for given traceability of every single movement of money it’s possible to rely on a blockchain, but not just any type of this: for giving more value and ethical at the project it could be necessary a public once, not private.

With public, therefore decentralized, blockchain, data cannot be counterfeited because it relies on an already existing and functioning structure. In this case, the BSC blockchain was chosen, above all for the validation speed that is a DPoS also because by not using huge energy resources we can consider it ecological compare to PoW.

In Ethicoins language we could define it as an Ethical blockchain.

The principle on which this project is based in fact is the Ethic of things, of behaviours (as you could see on the Ethic Code available on their institutional website). These ideas are fully in line with Knights of Malta standards.

Let’s get to the heart of the project and how the two concepts of cryptocurrencies and charity can agree

As I said in the previous article, this platform will use an utility token called Ethicoins (it’s not a coincidence that’s plural: there will not be only one but several tokens; however, I cannot reveal everything, right?) Which will be used for internal purchases.

In fact, within the platform, various companies that will promote their products will be channelled into a single E-Commerce, called Ethic-Shop.

On once direction, however: all the products must be eco-sustainable and they could be considered as such thankful by certifications. Now you know it’s called Ethic-Shop! Tempting, isn’t it?

This is where charity comes to play: the proceeds from the Ethic Shop will be reduced by 5% and donated on charity, supported also by the existent foundation, the ECS Foundation, composed by a selection of NOP (No Profit Organization) which show their operation supported by Ethicoins on the institution website. Everything will be tracked by the Eos blockchain and with personal references in order to have maximum transparency towards anti-money laundering rules and for showing everyday the truth of what Ethicoins does.

The organization will also have a dedicated section for the education: the ECS Academy. On the institutional website video courses will be inserted in the designated position to keep and user update in whatever they need without having to consul an unknow trader.

Pay attention: the teachers will be younger than you!!

Ethicoins doesn’t have any type of prejudices about the age or qualifications, here it’s important just the capacity of the individual person, it doesn’t mean if it’s a woman or a man or the age or nationality:

the principle is meritocracy!!

All these choices have been made to create an ecosystem called OSME (Open Source Mind Eco-System) for giving to the end user all the information in easy way, every moment, everywhere.

But how will this 5% that will donate be used?

Ethicoins experts have identified three macro areas in which they decided to direct the proceeds of donation:

• the Planet,
• the Humanity,
• the Animal Reign

100% of donations will therefore be structured in: 40% for the planet, 30% for the humanity, 30% for the animal kingdom. As for the planet, in my opinion, they are already doing a lot since they have chosen a blockchain with DPoS validation and the most famous NOP which have already a partnership is Greenpeace. There’s already a charity project with it!

For the Humanity they already delivered a lot of complete meals thankful by Feeding America, which the official sponsor is Anthony Robbins, considered the educator of the trainer, Mother Teresa of Calcutt, but also of some Presidents, actors, athletes and more of 4.000.000 million of people from one hundred countries!

For the Animal Reign they decided on what NOP choose in these days… not denying that they are well advanced to conclude a partnership with WWF foundation.

I won’t go any further, otherwise I’ll reveal all the fascinating parts of the project and don’t read my articles anymore!
