NFT por aquí, por allá, el futuro, pero… ¿Qué es un NFT?

Los NFTs o tokens no fungibles por sus siglas en español, son activos únicos e irrepetibles. Un ejemplo podría ser la Mona Lisa, podrías tomar una foto o realizar una copia precisa, pero no tendría el mismo valor. Para definir su valor real es complicado, el valor es algo subjetivo, y en el caso de los NFTs pesa más lo que hay detrás de estos, el creador, una comunidad, una historia.

y ¿Cómo funciona eso?

Cuando se crea un NFT, este activo, dígase ilustración, música, gif, documento se firma un contrato inteligente en la blockchain y este garantiza su autenticidad, lo hace único. Es una especie de certificado digital de propiedad. Este registro no puede ser falsificado pues es sustentado por miles de computadoras en una red global. Incluso se puede incluir en el contrato una opción en la que el creador reciba un porciento de futuras reventas, todo sin intermediario, una de las bondades de la descentralización.

¿Cuándo surgen?

El surgimiento se piensa que fue por allá por 2013 con las Colored coins, una especie de Bitcoin de colores, sin embargo, no existía la tecnología para volverlo masivo. En pocos años, las blockchain fueron evolucionando y con la llegada de los contratos inteligentes se habrían un mundo de posibilidades. Entre las primeras colecciones que surgieron están CryptoKitties y CryptoPunks, que hoy son de las más valoradas a nivel mundial.

Aquí en Cuba, a pesar de todas las limitaciones que existen, no tardó en llegar la fiebre del NFT, se cree que el primer cubano residente en la isla en vender uno fue el fotógrafo Gabriel Bianchini con su obra Hotel Habana. Actualmente destaca su proyecto Cryptocuban Social Club

¿Algún Beneficio?

Esta tecnología trae muchos beneficios, llegó para resolver el problema de la autenticidad en el mundo digital. Como en este mundo nada impide copiar ese archivo, descargarlo desde donde se exhibe, etc. Esta nueva tecnología es fenomenal para artistas, diseñadores y creadores en general. Nuevas maneras de generar ingresos, más independientes, pura descentralización. Otra aplicación muy famosa en los juegos play to earn, en los que la comunidad le da valor a los objetos y monedas del juego, en estos el jugador puede intercambiarlos por dinero, objetos dentro del juego, o sacarlos y canjearlos por criptomonedas.
