Tea House : Splinterlands update

Sit back with your favourite beverage and listen to me tell you about Splinterlands.
If you are following me you already know about Splinterlands and have likely played, but read on and let me know if there is anything else I should add to my post for the benefit of others.

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a trading card game (TCG) build on Hive blockchain. Splinterlands is an auto battler game where you must use strategy to win against your opponent as you both put up a line up of cards meeting the battle conditions for the match and then once both teams are submitted they battle it out to see who had the better cards and strategy. Whilst having more cards does help with options, it also does not guarantee a win as strategy plays a big part in the game as well. The winner will receive some Glint(in-game currency) and Splinter Shards (SPS) (token) and gain rank points, the loser loses ranked points and has to plot their revenge.

How do I get rewards?

You get rewards from Winning games (as mentioned above) or levelling up to a higher tier and by wining battles for your daily quests in Frontier or Modern game modes. Levelling up to a higher tier will get you a set amount of crates and each tier has its own rewards. Frontier is where you will start out after completing the campaign mode which will teach you the basics and get you some free cards to battle with. Frontier mode offers rewards in the form of cards and crates depending on your level, as well as tokens for the fortune draws. Modern mode offers fortune tickets only as you already get rewards for every battle you play in Modern mode which can be used to purchase cards at the glint shop. Oh and I almost forgot that there are leader board prizes as well but you will need to rank well in your tier on the leader board to get these rewards.

What else can I do?

Tournaments

Tournaments are a great way to get some extra rewards. The play out the much like regular battles but they are a tournament so that means that there are rounds and you must win those rounds to progress in the tournament. There are three types of Tournaments that can be played. Single Elimination where you have a set amount of rounds to beat an opponent, for example 1 match or best out of three matches for example. Anytime Tournament where you will have a set amount of battles to complete in a 24 hour period, at which time scores will be tallied and if you rank high enough you progress to the next round and have to lodge your battles for the next round. If you are not ranked high enough you will be knocked out and your place in the tournament will be recorded. The third tournament mode which never gets used is Sit N Go. I must admit I don't know how this one is worked out so I may have to do some research. At the end of all tournaments anyone who ranked high enough to get a prize will receive their rewards.

Land

Land can be bought from other players on the market. This land can then be farmed and produce resources which can be used to produce other things like potions, sold on the market or put into reward pools. To farm the land you will require cards, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) and a power core to be staked to the land. You will then have to build the building which this process can be sped up with time crystals. You will then be able to farm the land. Be mindful though your workers will need to be fed so having grain plots can keep the cost down by having food for your workers to consume.

Conflicts

Conflicts are events that you can only take part in while it is active, once the conflict ends those that participated in it will be notified and be able to check to see if they got any rewards. You will need to buy wagons for your troops, each wagon has space for five troops. the more wagons and higher level troops, the more likely you are to get rewards. Staking the current chests to the wagons can also get you more points and increase your chances of rewards also.

Join a Guild

Games are more fun when enjoyed with others. Joining a guild not only gives you the benefit of being able to talk to others that have a passion for the game but also opens up the ability to compete in brawls. Both guild brawls and just being in a guild can get you rewards, as being in a guild will get you a bonus rewards modifier for all modern and wild battles. This means more rewards per win. Also Guild brawls will give you SPS rewards for competing in brawls and merits which can be used to get Gladiator cards.
