One choice changes everything [EN/PT]

It’s almost become a habit to start my Splinterlands posts with a more philosophical tone. And why not? Many ways of approaching our battles end up applying to life as well. A good example of this is The Art of War, written by Sun Tzu, where military strategies have become almost a bible of entrepreneurship. But well, I’m nowhere near Sun Tzu’s level. Still, what we can say is that one choice can change everything. Whether in our lives or in choosing which element to use in the game, which tank to pick, or which summoner will perform best, and so on, every decision carries weight and leads us to different places. And that’s the beauty of life, of the game, and of our battles, including, our internal ones.

But today’s battle is very interesting in that sense, because at one point I believed I would lose. I was getting beaten badly by my opponent until one of my choices decided to turn the tide of the match. Cursed Windeku.

To give you some context, this battle had low mana, and when resources are limited, I usually choose the Death element, as I believe it offers some of the best low-cost options. So, naturally, I chose the monster Cursed Windeku. A solid monster with good health and a generous attack, but one that possesses two abilities that make all the difference. Thorns and Heal. All of this for just 6 mana.

After my opponent managed to hold me off with his monstrous tank and his supports, he was slowly wearing down my backline. Then I finally managed to take down his powerful tank, and the game turned around. I won’t spoil the rest, you can probably imagine how it went. So stay tuned to see how this battle went!

A few points about this battle:

The amount of mana in this battle is what determined almost all of my choices, even the element, since all elements were available. The battle rule, in my opinion, is irrelevant here, so let’s skip that.

My opponent chooses a tank that I consider very powerful; if he had one more level, it would be harder to defeat him since he could heal himself, but thankfully he didn’t. As I said, my team’s strength lies here: my attack, my defense, this is my protagonist, the monster that changed the game!

In the back row, I made some good choices and opted for lower-cost monsters that could still deal damage to my opponent in some way. Two monsters with the Opportunity ability to always attack the same monster, and in the second slot, a monster to serve as a substitute tank if necessary, and in the last slot, a more offensive monster.

The battle was good, it was intense. The Water element is one of the ones I fear the most, with its variety of offensive monsters that can easily wipe out the back row. My opponent made good choices: he placed a powerful tank, two monsters to attack my back row, and a support.

At one point, all was lost, but just like that, the game turned around, all because I made a good choice.

Se tornou quase um hábito começar meus posts de Splinterlands com um tom mais filosófico. E por que não? Muitas maneiras de direcionar nossas batalhas acabam servindo também para a vida. Um bom exemplo disso é A Arte da Guerra, escrita por Sun Tzu, onde estratégias militares acabaram se tornando quase uma bíblia do empreendedorismo. Mas bem, não chego aos pés de Sun Tzu. Ainda assim, o que podemos dizer é que uma escolha pode mudar tudo. Seja em nossas vidas ou na escolha de qual elemento usar no jogo, qual tank será escolhido ou qual summoner terá melhor aproveitamento e etc, cada decisão tem um peso e nos direciona para lugares diferentes. E essa é a graça da vida, do jogo e de nossas batalhas, inclusive, aquelas internas.

Mas a batalha de hoje é muito interessante nesse sentido, pois em determinado momento eu acreditei que perderia. Eu estava apanhando feio do meu adversário até que uma das minhas escolhas decidiu mudar o rumo da partida. Cursed Windeku.

Para que você entenda o contexto, essa batalha tinha pouca mana e quando o recurso é limitado eu costumo escolher o elemento morte, pois acredito que ele possui algumas das melhores opções de baixo custo. Então, obviamente escolhi o monstro Cursed Windeku. Um bom monstro, com boa vida e um ataque generoso, mas que possui duas habilidades que fazem toda a diferença. Thorns e Heal. Tudo isso por apenas 6 de mana.

Depois de meu adversário conseguir me segurar com seu monstruoso tank e seus suportes, ele estava minando minhas forças da linha de trás pouco a pouco. Então finalmente consegui derrubar seu poderoso tank e o jogo mudou. Não vou contar o resto, você já deve imaginar como isso aconteceu. Então continue acompanhando para ver como foi essa batalha!

Alguns pontos sobre essa batalha:

A quantidade de mana nessa batalha é algo que determinou quase todas as minhas escolhas, até mesmo o elemento, visto que todos os elementos estavam disponíveis. A regra de batalha, na minha opinião é irrelevante aqui, então vamos pular isso.

Meu adversário escolhe um tank que eu considero muito poderoso, se ele tivesse um nível a mais, seria pior derrota-lo já que ele poderia se curar, mas ainda bem que não estava. Como disse, meu ponto forte do time está aqui: meu ataque, minha defesa, esse é o meu protagonista, o monstro que mudou o jogo!

Na linha de trás eu fiz algumas escolhas boas e optei por monstros custo mais baixo mas que pudesse agredir meu adversário de alguma forma. Dois monstros com a habilidade Opportunity para atacar sempre o mesmo monstro e na segunda posição um monstro para auxiliar como um tank substituto caso fosse necessário e na última posição, um monstro mais ofensivo.

A batalha foi boa, foi pesada. O elemento água é um dos mais temidos por mim com sua variedade de monstros ofensivos que acabar com a linha de trás facilmente. Meu adversário fez boas escolhas, colocou um poderoso tank, dois monstros para atacar minha linha de trás e e um suporte.

Em determinado momento estava tudo perdido e como um estalo de dedos, o jogo virou e tudo isso porque eu fiz uma boa escolha.
