Bleep-bleep-bleep-bleep-bleep-bleep....

Hodliskey!
That is the Cryptonian way of saying "May you prosper more!"

As you can see my console has been been bleeping incessantly in the last 24 hours. This can only mean one thing--my search bots has found something remarkable. An opportunity perhaps.

Apparently my search bots has reported to me this game called Verses.

At first the name didn't resonate well with me as a name for a game like "Verses" sounds kind of unappealing unlike Ragnarok or Splinterlands, where there's already a connotation of excitement. Verses really sounded un-gamey to me. It sounds like a word game to me, not that I don't like word games. But I was just nonchalant when it came up.

But then the bleeps were getting noisier and noisier as if DEFCON 1 was raised by Pentagon. To stop the rising crescendo of the bleeps, I gave in and ultimately clicked the link the search bots were pestering me to take a look at. So I clicked this link: https://www.verses.gg/

At first I did not watch the video on the home page of the site. I just went straight to look at the artworks littering the site.

And--whoa!!!
I was literally blown away by the level of artistry you can see on the game's website. The moment I saw those fantastic images I felt like I was artfully knocked out. Like in the old Batman TV show where you'll see words like "Kapow!, Bam!, Pow!" out of thin air, I felt like I was dazed and seeing those kapows, bams and pows, only the letters were artfully rendered as they circle around my vision.

After the initial shock, I immediately dug further to know more about the game as a whole. Obviously I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Apparently this TCG game is set to launch beta on Q1 of 2023 as per their roadmap.

Then I found out that the artists featured are mostly well-known and accomplished artists in the TCG industry. Most of them have worked with Magic the Gathering as far back as Alpha set.

You'll see artworks from master illustrators Drew Tucker, Pat Morrissey Lewis, Stephan Martiniere, Jeff Laubenstein, Julie van der Wekken, Kaitlyn Page, Cornelius Brudi, Mr, and Mrs. Anson Maddocks, and Ken Meyer Jr.

Aside from Magic The Gathering, most of them have been involved in other game projects too. I don't have to delve into all of them but I just want to add that Pat Morrisey Lewis has been tapped too as cover artist for fantasy/sci-fi author Ursula Leguin's for her book "The Dispossessed," and a lot more in the fantasy genre. So just saying these artists are the real deal.

Another thing I like with what they did here is that no whitelisting is needed. You just buy the limited promo cards or signature cards they have now on sale and then just wait for the regular cards to be released. That's how simple it is if you want to play the game.

Now, here is another remarkable thing, right now they are releasing promo cards which they labeled Foundation Cards and Signature cards. If you buy those foundation/signature cards, it will have this feature:

*"As the holder of this NFT, you will receive free airdrops of future cards based on the Foundation Edition this piece originates from.

You can play with this as a signed full art card in Verses games."*

Neat, right? Aside from the impeccable artistry you're getting, you can have future airdrops and you can use it on the game itself, too. How cool is that?

Lastly, I watched the video of an AI interviewing the co-founder of the game, Alex West on the home page. From that video you'll learn the dynamics of the basics of the game, and to me what he was saying sounded really interesting. It could be likened to Hive's Ragnarok where it fused NFTs and the immortal game of chess. According to Mr. West, the game is like fusing together TCG and dominoes or Scrabble where formation of cards in a tableau are key to winning the game.

Right now, they are slowly airdropping signature cards one week at a time. The Foundation Card which is 1/1 is being sold to the highest bidder while the limited Signature Card (100/100) is being sold for 50 XTZ.

My favorite artwork released so far there is entitled, "Monarch" by Ken Meyer Jr. to give you a sample of the NFTs on Verses.

Should you decide to buy the promo NFTs, you will need a Tezos wallet like Kukai or Temple. You will also need to buy the Multipass NFT, which is really just cheap, around 0.25 XTZ.

You can view the whole collection of available NFTs on https://minterpop.com/ and see if anything will tickle your fancy.

I don't usually recommend NFTs but since these NFTs feature well-known and accomplished game artists--I would even say legendary artists, and can entitle you to future airdrops, and you can definitely use them in the game just smells like a winning formula to me.

Happy NFT hunting!
