Twitter recently launched the NFT profile picture feature. It allows NFT owners to make their NFTs their Twitter profile pictures. However, it is only available for Twitter Blue users. It is also only available on iOS devices and supports a limited number of crypto wallets.

You may have used a picture of an NFT as your Twitter profile picture or have seen someone do so. This time it is different because it can be verified with a hexagonal profile picture frame.

With the wide recognition and buzz around the NFT space, there has been a lot of criticism about NFTs and their impact on society. Some people see NFTs as a scam while others see it as a new form of money laundering. With this new feature, there's going to be a divide between NFT owners and the NFT haters.

Is it worth it?

I don't see the need for it. I know a lot of complaints have been made about the right "click and save" issues with NFTs and how digital arts get stolen and minted as fake. But, I don't see how this feature solves that.

Yes, this feature lets you know who owns an NFT and who doesn't with a hexagonal frame. But does it let you know if the NFT owned by the person is original art or fake?

Some users see it as Twitter's way of making NFT owners subscribe to Twitter blue without really making any serious change.

People say social media is toxic, newsflash it's about to get really toxic. Human beings crave validation, attention, and recognition. These things influence a lot of our decision-making as humans. And NFTs gave all that. Owning an NFT now does not just mean you own a valuable asset.

From the moment NFTs got worldwide recognition, a lot of people stopped viewing them as just valuable digital arts with the possibility of giving profits after they get sold but also as some form of status symbol. This is why some NFTs get sold for hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars because the NFT projects are been supported by high-status personalities so when you get an NFT like that you earn yourself a bragging right.

Just like the verification checks on several social media platforms, the hexagonal profile picture frame is a form of verification for NFT owners on Twitter.

Without a doubt, this feature also has its positive sides. Individuals who collect and trade NFTs can use this feature as a way of showcasing their NFT collections to their followers and potential buyers. It also gives creatives the platform to show their original digital arts in form of NFTs.

NFTs are great and important in the quest of building a metaverse.
