Bloodline Dominion And Shapeshift | Splinterlands #446

With Conclave Arcana dropping, it introduced eleven new abilities. I don't have or own any Conclave Arcana cards, but that doesn't matter as Training Mode exists. I have been enjoying testing out the new abilities and at the same time watching some of the top battles in Diamond and Champion.

I remember when Martyr's ability came out, and it shook up the meta. I predict we will see the same thing with the Bloodline Dominion and Shapeshift as Conclave Arcana cards become more and more the norm in battles. The best thing about these two abilities is that they don't care about positioning, as they trigger globally. If you're not experimenting with Bloodline Dominion and Shapeshift yet, start now. The Shapeshift ability makes a unit count as all bloodlines.

Battle Details

  • Mana Cap: 59
  • Rulesets: What Doesn't Kill You, Even Stevens, Earthquake

Lineup Details

  • Kavor Skarn (Drakoshan Bloodline) (Summoner) -- Bloodline Dominion ability and all monsters of the same bloodline will get +1 speed.
  • Arcane Skinwalker (Fiend) - Shapeshift ability to capitalize on the +1 speed from the summoner, plus good armor, so even though I made a mistake in placing it in position one (instead of Solace Ashinach), at least with high armor, it would be able to survive. Plus, with his inspire ability to give all friendly melee monsters +1 melee attack.
  • Kei (Drakoshan) - same bloodline as Kavor, so will benefit from speed boost and with Reach ability, able to attack from the second position.
  • Solace Ashinach (Drakoshan) - same bloodline as Kavor, so will benefit from speed boost and was meant to be in position one.
  • Bren Palesworn (Human) - Shapeshift ability to capitalize on the +1 speed from the summoner and will provide primary range damage.
  • Rage (Dragon) + Warborn Shaman (Orc) - the last two slots are filled with high mana cap damage dealers to fill out the team, and essentially, hope they deal most of the damage for the team.

Even though I mistakenly misplayed Arcane Skinwalker, it proved its worth and survived long enough to soak up some early damage. Four of my six monsters got Kavor's Bloodline Dominion speed buff. The rest of the battle played out as it should, with both teams trading multiple hits and many of the monsters being taken out due to Earthquake damage. What worked in my favor was playing Rage, and with its high health, it was able to outlast the opposition and clinch the victory for the team. I really enjoyed the battle and learning about the new abilities.

Why Shapeshift Is OP?

All Summoners/Archons come with Bloodline Dominion. It's a new concept to splinterlands, but it does have its positive benefits. But for me, the real OP ability I tested is Shapeshift, as it allows monsters with the ability to gain boosts without being part of the bloodline. This gives these cards lots of flexibility and utility, and I foresee them becoming more and more valuable.

The Bloodline Dominion ability is also cool, but I am unsure if it's worth paying a premium for a Summoner/Archon ultimately to only get a stat boost. Looking at the market, Kavor is the cheapest summoner from the new Conclave Arcana set. Technically, he is only giving plus 1 speed and therefore, why would you overpay for this summoner when other cheaper summoners offer speed boosts, but as always, new shiny things always come at a premium.

Concluding Thoughts

I really enjoyed the training mode battle and learning about the new abilities. Shapeshift is a very cool ability, and I could see monsters with this ability being over-valued. And what it boils down to is that Conclave Arcana didn't just add new cards to splinterlands. It has introduced new concepts and new gameplay mechanics that will continue to change the way the game is played from now onwards.
