Splinterlands - Strategy tips for beginners
Heya Splinterlanders :)
So for today's media challenge week, we have a theme: tips for beginners. I will try not to repeat some of the great guides about how to start the game, etc, but as always I will try to give some tips about strategy and tactics that could be helpful for beginners.
Understand the Basics:
- Learn the game mechanics, including the importance of mana, monster abilities, and the turn-based structure.
Atack order:
- Speed matters, so knowing what the attack order is so essential. You can check all details here.
Experiment with Different Splinters:
- Each splinter (Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, and Dragon) has its own strengths and weaknesses. Experiment with different splinters to find your most effective line-up.
Targeting Priority:
- one of the underrated aspects of the fight, usually beginners choose damage monsters and forget about targets. Lack of focus fire or wrong targeting could ruin every strong setup. Below is a cheat sheet for different rulesets.
Finally, after you know what are you doing it's time to increase your arsenal and upgrade Your Cards:
- As you earn more cards, focus on upgrading them to improve their stats. Upgraded cards are crucial for success in higher-level battles.
Ok so you click the battle button and now you have a screen like this:
Next, the summoner choice screen, do not hesitate to try different setups with different splinters. I know those 2-3 minutes are not always enough, but you get more and more practice. .
Each splinter (Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, and Dragon) has its own strengths and weaknesses. Experiment with different splinters to find a setup that could be the most effective for specific rulesets and conditions.
And finally, we have to choose the monster for our setup:
My first recommendation is changing the sorting filter to mana cost descending or ascending whichever works better for you. Default sorting is just retarded :)
What else to take into account:
- Adapt to Rule Sets:
Keep in mind the various rule sets for battles. Some rules restrict certain monsters or favor specific strategies. Adjust your deck accordingly.
- Synergies and Combos:
Look for synergies between cards. Some monsters work well together, and combining their abilities can give you a strategic advantage.
- Positioning:
The position of your monsters on the battlefield matters. Melee monsters usually attack from the front, while ranged monsters can attack from any position. Consider the rules of the specific battle and position your monsters strategically.
Remember that practice and adaptation are key to success in Splinterlands. As you gain experience, you'll develop a deeper understanding of the game and refine your strategies accordingly.
- Engage with the Community:
Join the Splinterlands community to learn from experienced players, discuss strategies, and stay updated on the latest game developments. I recommend my stream of course, more info at the bottom :).
- Learn from Replays:
Review replays of your matches. Analyze both victories and defeats to identify areas for improvement.
You can also use additional tools to check different setups:Experimenting with different combinations of cards and adapting to different rule sets will contribute to your success in battles and tournaments.
In summary, mastering the intricate mechanics of Splinterlands involves a deep understanding of monster abilities, smart mana management, strategic positioning, and leveraging buffs and debuffs. I try to explore some strategic paths in my Strategy Corner articles, you can find more links in the bottom sections. I think it could be helpful for beginners, but also for some advanced players.
