Rebellion 1/10th of Chaos...
A couple of weeks ago we had the news that Rebellion packs were all sold out in game. I recently stumbled on the splintercards.com charts and realized just how many Rebellion packs were burned! An insane amount gone relatively speaking.
In fact total amount of Rebellion cards is only twice the amount of either of the very old legacy sets of Untamed and Beta.
To add to that the amount of Chaos cards that will fall out of modern play once the next set of cards arrives makes me wonder just how much of a boom Splinterlands will be?
Put this into perspective where the Chaos cards are at 10 million it allowed many players with low entry cost to play and earn. Once the set falls out of modern play a lot of players will have to shift to Wild which will make it even more difficult to play in. Or the players have to spend a lot to maintain competitive edge in modern play. This is surely a great plan for Splinterlands setting up for the next boom.
On the flip side if there is not more demand it will only hinder the adoption of the game. Rising costs to play will limit amount of players that are willing to join.
Less than 10 spellbooks are purchased daily and on top the rate of new players trying the game is starting to break down to all time lows. The challenge is for Splinterlands to balance out cost of entry and still hold up in value. Sadly I believe the latter is just too difficult to maintained as for years since the 2020 boom we have yet to see the game's assets trend up.
There are a lot of good cards that are available but the return on capital just not as good as when the game first started over five years ago. With further cost to earn its just not an ideal investment to be making in the game. Once Chaos falls out of modern I fear we maybe in for a rude awakening unless the developers can lower the cost of entry and raise the return on capital.

No kidding. I feel like left behind everyday even though I put in so much time over the years.
I know that feeling and that me stop playing it ibh. Now i only play brawls
81% burned? That is a lot of packs burned.
It's tough for Splinterlands right now. I agree that the juicy returns were one of the better reasons and at that point in time, we also didn't have soulbound rewards so cards could be sold for DEC.
Soulbound reward cards really is hurting the earnings to the point where there is not enough of an incentive to buy and play. Play to earn has its benefits and the game worked then. We can only imagine if that could have been sustainable.
That's an interesting stat.
I think focus needs to be in making previous assets value trend upwards. Once the cryptocurrency community see green hills they will flock back to Splinterlands to earn, just as they did during the NFT boom. Which will create buzz and hopefully pick up those outside and inside the cryptocurrency community that play for fun.

I have been believing in that assets will rise in price but it just has not for a long time. We are talking years. I am still bullish but to be honest not as confident as a few years ago. This down trend is brutal.
