Why is Bera Dallin in Demand this Season
This post was made as entry for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Some units in Splinterlands feel like they were built for battle and Bera Dallin is one of them. With that good stats and abilities, she always looks ready to take the hit for the team. But even a strong tank like Bera got moments when she's not really the best pick. Rule sets can really shake up how useful a unit can be and Bera Dalling is no exception. I think you'll see some surprises in what matches she works best in (or worst).
In this post, I will go over her price, stats and more so you can decide if she worth adding to your lineup.

Let's talk about… Bera Dallin

────────────────────────
The hill dwarf Bera Dallin was once mayor of New Everitt. But when the legions of Chaos tore open their rifts and invaded the Splinterlands, the town fell.
The survivors fled, Bera included. She traveled across Praetoria, gathering allies and fighting back. It was Bera who led a small band of heroes into the Sea of Karsts in search of an ancient, elemental temple, where she performed the ritual that opened a rift and brought the Riftwatchers to the Splinterlands.

Buy and Rent:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Bera Dallin feels like a pricey unit to buy but it's honestly worth it. Its strong mix attack and defence makes it really in many matchups.
I cannot find anything higher than level 1 right now and to be honest, I am using a level 2 only on my battles which I rented for 50 DEC per day so this is on the expensive price especially for a level 1. If you can find a sweeter deal, go for it. You can see she is being used by a lot of players due to the lack of cards for rent in the market and there is a reason for that.
UPDATE: I did this post from the start of the season and it seems like you can save quite a bit of money renting if you wait a day or two past the start of season. I never found this deal at the start which made me rent a level 1 Lorkus instead of my Life Element team that brought me to Diamond 2. Currently, it's...
TLDR, wait a day or two after the start of season for more and cheaper rental choices for your games.

Rule Sets:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Use it in... |
![]() All Units have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. Bera Dallin benefits massively from bonus armor which stacks with Shield and Void Armor making her even harder to break. While it hinders her attacks, she's there as your tank in the first place making this a good rule set for her. |
![]() Melee attack Units can attack from any position. With this rule, Bera Dalling can attack from any position while soaking hits with Taunt, high health and armor. |
![]() Non-flying Units take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round. Even though Bera Dallin doesn't have any Flying ability, the Shield ability still reduce this damage to 1 per round making it okay to use her in this rule set. |
Avoid using it in... |
![]() Units with Magic attack may not be used in battles. Can’t pair with magic support like Meriput Magician units that often work well with Void Armor tanks. |
![]() Units do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs. Bera Dallin loses her main defense because her 6 Armor and Void Armor become useless, making her a lot weaker for the mana you used for her. |
![]() All units have Fury (deals double damage if the target has Taunt). Since she has Taunt, every enemy will target her, and if they have Fury, they deal double damage making her melt quickly despite her high base stats. |

Battle Strat: I used my usual Bera Dallin-Avina of the Wolf combo plus more. First, I have Silverblade Fighter in the front to lift Bera Dallin towards the back. His Flank allows Bera Dallin to still attack as if she has Reach because of this ability. Next, Bera Dallin with her Taunt and Shield gets to move. She also has Heal from Avina of the Wolf. Harbinger of Chaos is there because I needed extra damage and Olivia of the Brook is an extra unit I added since these battles usually take a lot longer. You can change her with any unit you want as she is not as important than the others. Lastly, my two healers at the back. Caravan Guard can use Triage to heal Bera Dallin since she is considered a back line unit now on 2nd position. Meriput Magician is a backup which usually heals anyone in the front position but in case my Silverblade Fighter goes down immediately, Meriput Magician can then still heal Bera Dallin once she gets to the front by her Tank Heal ability.
Battle Summary: This build is very weak against magic attack. You can see Bera Dallin going to 1 health immediately on round 1. Honestly, I got saved by Aimless rule since Bera Dallin would've lose immediately if focused with magic attacks. I won because of Aimless and because Bera Dallin dealth an insane 11 damage each round, 3 from attack and 8 from her Armored Strike because of her armor.
