The Undying Build: Earth Element’s Ultimate Scavenger Build

This post was made as entry for Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This was a game I had saved a while back but for a variety of reasons, I never had the time to work on it or showcase it properly. Unfortunately, the lineup has become slightly outdated in the current meta and is likely most effective now only in the Wild Ranked Format. I was looking for the right opportunity to write an article about it but as timing would have it, that moment passed and I had to shift gears and prioritize a different lineup for another article. So, this one sat on the shelf... until now.
Thanks to this week’s Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge, which required me to highlight my best, favorite and most beloved lineups of all time, I finally have the perfect excuse to bring it out of the vault.
So, without further ado, I present to you one of my most dependable, flexible and enjoyable build of all time, My Earth All Scavenger Build!

My Earth All Scavenger Build

This build is composed of:
Archon: Eternal Tofu
Unit 1: Fungus Spawn
Unit 2: Pelacor Mercenary
Unit 3: Lord Thanalor
Unit 4: Iza the Fanged
Unit 5: Venari Seedsmith
Unit 6: Doctor Blight
The main idea of this lineup is Scavenger, a powerful ability that grants a unit +1 max health every time any other unit dies, regardless of it's an ally or an enemy. It's similar to Life Leech in that your units grows tankier over time, but Scavenger stacks health directly and permanently, and isn’t dependent on doing damage like Life Leech is. This means that your units effectively become more durable as the battle progresses, making this comp scale extremely well into the later rounds of the fight.
What makes this build particularly effective is that it doesn’t rely heavily on a single attack type or a single hard carry unit to get the job done. Many players build teams around one attack type like Magic spam, or Inspire-Melee which can crumble quickly if they get countered. This build, on the other hand, has inherent damage and the concept is based on increased health, across as many units as possible. Every card contributes value, whether it's through damage or abilities simply existing to fuel my Scavenger engine.
There’s also a natural durability added to this team. Because of the difference in attack types (Melee, Ranged, Magic, Poison, and even Thorns via Eternal Tofu), it becomes very difficult for opponents to hard-counter this lineup. Dispel and Affliction aren’t very effective because there's no one unit getting the buff or heal that the team completely depends on. At the same time, Silence or Return Fire completely counter the whole team, since each unit brings a different attack to the table.
In summary, this is a late scale, snowballing team that grows stronger the longer the match goes on and it doesn’t give opponents an easy counterplay option.
Role Breakdown

Archon: Eternal Tofu
This Archon is the best for the lineup while also not being the only one required. Eternal Tofu provides +2 health to all units, which is crucial for surviving the most vulnerable early rounds. It buys your Scavenger units the time they need to ramp up. It also grants Thorns to all allies, turning every melee hit your team takes into a form of passive damage output. The Snare is a bonus ability that is good in Earthquake which is also this team's weakest rule set so I don't focus on it.
Additionally, Tofu’s synergy with Triage and Heal strategies is incredibly strong, particularly when combined with Pelacor Mercenary, your frontline tank. You can lean into Scavenger stacking to increase his heals while healing your other team.

Unit 1: Fungus Spawn
Fungus Spawn serves a humble but essential pawn. This unit serves as your sacrificial pawn. Often, you’ll find yourself with a little to no leftover mana after picking your key cards, and this is where Fungus Spawn fits in. It doesn't deal much damage, but its presence means one more body that, once it dies, fuels all your Scavenger units with an extra +1 max HP. Think of Fungus Spawn as an extra health for all of your scavenger units.

Unit 2: Pelacor Mercenary
Your main tank and the main defense of the team. Pelacor Mercenary is an absolute mana-efficient beast: Melee damage, Flying (evade Earthquake and some Melee hits), Heal, and Retaliate make him a real problem up front for your enemies. Thanks to Eternal Tofu’s Thorns and Scavenger having synergy with Heal, he stays alive long enough to become a juggernaut as units die and his health increases with each Scavenger trigger.
If you're ever in a low-mana match or don't have enough to include Pelacor Mercenary, Xenith Monk is a decent alternative, especially since it brings its own healing, but Pelacor Mercenary is ideal for this comp.

Unit 3: Lord Thanalor
Lord Thanalor is your hybrid tank and magic attack unit. High base health and Amplify make your Tofu Thorns even more dangerous. Rust is a small but powerful bonus ability that reduces enemy armor, making your team’s damage more get to their health faster. Of course, Lord Thanalor himself has Scavenger so while he's acting as your backup tank or middle-line defender against Snipe, he's growing tankier with every death on the battlefield.
The fact that he deals magic attack makes him a strong unit for breaking through enemy lines and forcing enemies to adapt.

Unit 4: Iza the Fanged
Iza the Fanged is a ranged unit with Sneak, Scavenger, and Stun, which is a rare and annoying combination to play against. Her low starting health makes her fragile early, so she sits safely in the middle ranks. As the battle progresses and your team’s Scavenger units grow, she becomes a surprise tank in the late game, capable of stunning enemy unit or becoming a big wall for Venari Seedsmith..
Because of her stun potential, she can interrupt enemy supports from the back or even prevent Taunt units with Heal from recovering their own health.

Unit 5: Venari Seedsmith
A fairly straightforward addition, but no less important. Venari Seedsmith brings Ranged attack, which gives you more damage, and of course, Scavenger to keep the engine running. He also has Poison, which is really great in drawn out games which this team is based on. While he's not your star player, he often sticks around until the late game and ends up doing more than expected.

Unit 6: Doctor Blight
Last but certainly not least, Doctor Blight. He’s the last unit I got with Scavenger that fits this lineup. With Affliction, Poison, and Camouflage, he often remains untouched in the back while steadily chipping away at opponents while getting those sweet Scavenger stacks. He is exceptionally strong against Taunt + Heal combos because Affliction shuts down their healing loop, and Poison helps finish the job.
He also has his own Scavenger, so as he lingers at the end of the lineup, his max health continues to rise, making him a potent solo survivor in endgame. As the last unit, he has the potential to earn up to 10 health from Scavenger and this doesn't include any Reborn or Resurrect happening on the board.
When and where you will use this lineup
This is an incredibly flexible lineup and one of its biggest strengths is that you can use it in nearly any ruleset, except Earthquake, since only one unit (Pelacor Mercenary) has Flying. On the other hand, I would advise most using this lineup on Born Again rule set where every unit gets revived once which means each unit can serve up to 2 stacks of Scavenger.
This build also really shines rule sets that benefits melee units like Super Sneak and Melee Mayhem because your enemies would most likely use melee units which is an advantage due to Eternal Tofu's Thorns. The enemy's melee attacks trigger Thorns and Retaliate, and since all your units are progressively growing in health, they can be really strong towards the end of the game.
Another advantage is that while the synergy with Eternal Tofu is excellent, you’re not locked in and can use other archons as well. As long as you’re using an Earth or Dragon Summoner (selecting Earth element) that provides either utility or defensive stats, this comp is viable. You can mix and match the archons depending on the matchup or rule sets.
