Last News before Conclave Arcana Release!

Conclave Arcana will be coming in a few days and we would see a dramatic change in the game. Whether it would be good or bad, we would know really soon. I am personally excited for the change. I think Chaos Legion has been hanging around for too long. While I'm really bummed out of the upcoming increase in my rental expenses as Chaos Legion goes at the back, I'm also happy because the Archons that has Conscript abilities will finally be gone as well. Fighting a max leveled Gladiator unit is very hard when you don't have your own max leveled Gladiators to fight with.

Next generation, when Conclave Arcana is released, it would be the start of fighting to have the best team again. I have a few things in mind but I will save it once I've finally tested them. For now, let's look at the latest updates and news regarding Conclave Arcana.

Two New Abilities Dropped

Just a few days ago, there were two really strong abilities whose effects have been revealed. These are Empower and Final Rest.


Empower: While not revealed, this unit and adjacent units gain +1 Power.
Empower is a very simple ability that boosts your team's damage. It's like Martyr that increases the damage of the two units beside your main unit but needs to be present on the board and alive like Inspire or Strengthen to use. What's good about this is that it's not limited to one attack type like Inspire. This means you can finally increase the attacks of your magic and range units without relying to Archons or Martyr. The bad thing, well, try to keep this unit alive.

I also tried to gather information about Empower from the Discord but either none cared or none knows the answer. There's a weird wording in this ability. "While not revealed," The reason why I find this strange is because we do have an ability that we talked about last week, "Reveal." To refresh your memories, here it is.

As you can see, this "reveal" a camouflaged unit and empower's wording is "While not revealed" which sounded very specific. I assume that all units with Empower has Camouflage as well which would make countering this very tricky unless you have a unit with Reveal on your side.


Another ability I've seen recently was Last Word and a player actually said exactly what is on my mind.

Last Word: Provides immunity to Final Rest (allied and enemy abilities that trigger on defeat cannot activate).
I would say that whichever unit has the Last Word ability, it would be a main stay in all of my builds for the Conclave Arcana. Last Word is such a powerful ability that it can directly cripple a lot of builds and strategies with just one unit. Imagine you are playing with a team of Bloodlines and focused on Bloodlines Tribute to increase the power of your team, well, that doesn't work now. Well, that was the original plan.

I really don't like that they added Last Word last minute because I liked Last Word and this ability was made just to counter that. It's like playing Mobile Legends and your pick was banned when you showed that you want to play it. It felt like that.

Coincidence or Intentional?


I looked at the new teased cards and saw Archmage Yabanius. For celebrating the 7th year of Splinterlands, we have Archmage Yabanius as a promo card that will be inserted randomly in packs opened. Archmage Yabanius is pre-minted and will be added to your packs by chance when opened. Technically, it's a bonus card and you may or may not get it in addition to what you open. Refer to the image below to increase your chance of getting this Archmage Yabanius.


Now, I have a question. Other than me, does anyone else see what I see? Archmage Yabanius Dr. Strange from Marvel? I'm not against it. I was just surprised at how good it looked and reminded me of Dr. Stephen Strange.

Wishes for Future Bloodlines Concept

I hope Bloodlines will have a common concept like common abilities among their cards. A good example is with Yugioh. Fire King, the archetype that I love and use, their concept is their abilities activate when the cards are "destroyed." Spirit Archetype's common concept is that when you summon them, they return to your hand at end phase. I hope that they apply the same to Splinterlands Bloodlines as this can make players remember the bloodlines easier.

Imagine that ALL Avians Bloodlines has Flying ability or something new. We can have all Elven units has high speed or Celestials all have Phase ability as they are non-physical creatures. It doesn't mean that it's their only ability but rather just one concept to make a Bloodline more recognizable.

There is also a card game that I played before called Urban Rivals. If Splinterlands wants a good concept for Bloodlines, they can use their concept as well where if you have two or more of the same Bloodline, it activates the Bloodline ability and does something beneficial to your team. Maybe having two or more Avians gives all Avians the Flying ability or something. I just think it's a good concept to explore especially since we now have the foundation for it.
