What happens when Splinterlands gets merged with Rick and Morty? You get Yaba’s Pickle, a little tank that sounds naughty but also amazing to have (stat-wise).

This isn’t your average release either. From raffles and auctions to foils and potion boosts this pickle’s got its own event. With Conclave Arcana just released and multiple Arcane events announcing, it’s going to be a wild ride for collectors and players alike.

Grab your staked SPS, slap on your Midnight Potions and prepare to enter a different battlefield, a fight for the pickle. PICKLE MATTTT!! YABA YABBA DUB DUB! 🥒

🥒 The Three Paths to Pickle Glory

Yaba’s Pickle won’t just be sitting in the shop or along with the card packs. It would be different this time. There are three unique ways to obtain it and each has its own rules. The first option is reserved for SPS stakeholders, giving early access to the most dedicated players. That means you're getting a new benefit for supporting Splinterlands and staking your SPS.

The second opportunity rolls in with the Gold Foil Arcane Raffle, where each crafted ticket comes with a guaranteed Regular Foil and a shot at a Gold Foil. Finally there’s the ultra-rare Black Foil Arcane Auction, a high-stakes event where only the most committed will be able to get one of 20 prized copies. Remember, these are Black Foil Arcane cards so you get more rewards in your wins when you use them in your battles.

This structure rewards both the players and the investors. It also adds more engagement into SPS staking and event planning which keeps the economy moving and players hyped.

🎴 Foils, Potions and Pricing

Yaba’s Pickle will be released in three different foil types, Regular, Gold and Black. Each pickle has its own rarity curve. Gold Foils have a 2% drop rate that can double with Alchemy Potions while Black Foils are a 1-in-4000 pull unless you bring out the Midnight Potions which can improve your chance.

One good news is that the mighty pickle will cost just 150 DEC per card and the pricing seems to be accessible for most players. I said most because there would be a requirement of 1000 SPS staked at the time of the snapshot (which I would discuss next). Also, keep in mind this first sale is only open for 30 days and once it ends you won’t be able to grab those Gold and Black versions again from the shop.

📸 SPS Snapshot: Stake or Miss Out

The SPS Stakeholders Pickle Release hinges entirely on the snapshot. Players will be able to purchase one card per 1,000 SPS staked at the time of the snapshot which means time is already ticking to get your SPS locked in. A snapshot means that Splinterlands will be taking a look into player's account, check how much SPS they have, and limit the amount you can buy. This means you cannot game the system of buying SPS, staking them, buying multiple Yaba's Pickle, unstaking SPS, then selling it AFTER the snapshot. (Although, you can start staking now if you want until you can buy the cards you need.)

This staking system adds a layer of urgency but also fairness. Those who’ve been actively participating and supporting the ecosystem through SPS are rewarded with early access.

This method also avoids bots scooping up all the cards since purchases are capped by stake. If you’re a consistent player this could be your best shot at the Pickle without spending extra.

🎟️ The Gold Foil Arcane Raffle

After seven days, the sale ends while the Gold Foil Arcane Raffle kicks off. Now, every ticket guarantees a Regular Foil Yaba’s Pickle and enters you into a drawing to win one of fifty Gold Foil Arcane cards and one winner will be announced each day for 50 days straight.

Tickets cost 200 Aura, 10 Vouchers and 200 DEC and there's no limit to how many you can enter so technically the more you craft the better your odds of pulling something rare.

What makes this raffle spicy is the transparency. You’ll see how many tickets are entered daily so you can strategize. All tickets are burned upon entry which keeps supply in check and avoid any inflation.

🔨 The Black Foil Arcane Auction

Once the Gold Raffle wraps up the Black Foil Arcane Auction begins. In this raffle, 20 cards will be auctioned off one at a time with each auction running 25 hours. Unlike traditional currency, you’ll need Auction Points to bid which are crafted using 1,000 Aura, 50 Vouchers and 500 DEC.

Only Auction Points are accepted as bids and they get locked in escrow when used. If someone outbids you your points come back so you can try again without permanently losing your stake.

These cards will be issued from highest mint to lowest which makes the earlier wins potentially more collectible. Black Foils are the rarest tier of this entire event and only serious players will walk away with one.

💠 Lastly, What is Aura?

Aura is a special resource harvested through the LAND gameplay system. To get Aura, players must:

1. Produce research
2. Use it to get an Aura Lab Permit from the Artisan Quarter screen
3. Build an Aura Lab using the permit
4. Harvest Aura from the lab
5. Use that Aura to craft Midnight Potions in the Artisan Quarter
6. Use or sell the potions — they boost your chances of pulling Black Foil cards
7. You can reach the Artisan Quarter screen via the Production Overview, Item Inventory, or by clicking your Aura balance on the regional map view.

If you want to join the Gold Foil Arcane Raffle and Black Foil Arcane Auction, you must save your Aura and don't use all of them when crafting Midnight Potions.
Unfortunately, this also means only Land owners can participate in both the raffle and the auction because Aura are not transferrable and can only be obtained through Lands.

🛡️ Pickle’s Gameplay Potential

Now, with all these pickle talk about raffles and auctions, now comes the real question, "Is this card strong? Do I really need one?"

Yaba’s Pickle might not have any attack but that’s exactly what makes it good. It has high synergy for cards with the Weapons Training ability which can give it attack. This opens up some really good combos especially when you want to turn it into a strong attacker. Its Shield and Heal combo makes it tanky enough to soak hits and stay alive longer than most 4-mana units. Here are its stats:

If you think Yaba's Pickle is weak, you cannot be any more wrong. Yaba's Pickle is a very strong contender alongside Rage, a dragon unit with magic attack and Weapons Training. Not only that, Rage has Void ability which contrasts Yaba's Pickle's Shield. This means, with these two units, you now have an amazing defense against all attacks whether it's melee, range or magic, while being accessible to Rage's Weapons Training.

Lastly, Yaba's Pickle is also a solid choice for one of the most annoying rule set, Little League. It is a rule set where only 4 mana or lower units are allowed and good tanks are super limited. With just 4 mana, Yaba's Pickle checks all the right boxes for durability utility and synergy. That said the card’s water element does slightly limit its Arcane synergy since Prophet Rosa, the current strongest Arcane for water element, boosts ranged unit's attacks (which Pickle isn’t) or grants Shield (which it already has).
