RE: SPS Governance Proposal - Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund

Gotta be honest I hated this idea at first. So much opportunity to game the system.
Devs spinning up games they plan to rug, spinning up alts to come to us begging after they rip themselves off. It's going to take a lot of wisdom to discern who's a straight shooter and who's an opportunist pretending to be a straight shooter. That said, I feel like the potential rewards outweigh the potential risks.
As always, it's the optics that matter. If people see this fund as naivety on our part it's going to attract the wrong people and repel the right ones.
Nobody wants to invest in a project which throws value away.

I like the idea of having a group of DAO members that are active in other games help to sort of "pre approve" the projects and then having the DAO vote to approve including them. It should help to filter out abuse.

We'll want to require something be signed by the EVM keyholder to verify that we're talking to the right guy before we let him claim that value here, and I'd prefer to see them play in Modern.
If you're confident the logistics are manageable and we have trusted community members willing and able, then I can see it working well as a marketing exercise, but I can't stress enough how much the optics matter.
If crypto gamers get the impression we're handing out free money to rug victims, we're going to attract empty wallets and repel full ones.

I would expect (given Dave and Blaze's integrity) that we would only approach the communities of the 'real' projects that failed, and not the countless obvious short lived rugs and scams, and would steer clear of any 'new/fast failures' designed only to intentionally try to take advantage of this program. Discretion for inclusion would be paramount and I trust their judgement there.
