Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - The Last of Us: Gustavo Santaolalla

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is: Lo mejor del amor of Rodrigo

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is The Last of Us of the artist Gustavo Santaolalla.

I have spoken many times about the influence that video games have on music. Examples like Grand Theft Auto San Andreas with its various stations of different genres, which led me to discover music that I would never have heard otherwise. Also songs with a very beautiful soundtrack that accompanied the gameplay such as The Witcher 3 and Kingdom Come Deliverance I and II.

The song I will talk about today is part of the main theme of the video game The Last of Us and also of the TV series of the same name. The interesting thing is that this piece was composed by an Argentine artist: Gustavo Santaolalla. It is not very common to see Argentine musicians involved in major U.S. productions, especially in such world-renowned projects. However, Gustavo Santaolalla has had a solid career for decades, he has had the opportunity to win two OSCAR awards for soundtrack thanks to: Babel and Brokeback Mountain.

Knowing that the soul of The Last of Us soundtrack bears the name of Gustavo Santaolalla, is without a doubt a reason to be proud to be Argentinean. Some sounds present in the game's soundtrack come directly from the Argentine musical culture, mixing folklore with tango.

In the second part of the videogame, several nods to Argentina have been made: a mate in the protagonist's room, the presence of the artist himself in the game and in one image Joel's daughter appears wearing the Argentine national team's jersey.
