Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Pasos al costado: Turf

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: 50 Cent

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Pasos al costado of the argentine rock-group Turf.

I wanted to take advantage of today's superclasico (River vs Boca) of Argentine soccer to talk about the influence of music in the “cancha” songs. Maybe for someone who is not familiar with Argentine soccer, they are not aware of how passionate it is and how it influences the lives of many people. Each team has its own songbook, a collection of reversions of popular songs adapted to encourage their players. These versions, loaded with passion and creativity, become a hallmark of each fan base and form an essential part of sports folklore.

One of the most renowned fans for their creativity when it comes to song reversions is La Gloriosa Butteler, the historic barra of San Lorenzo. Over the years, its members have been able to adapt all kinds of songs -from national rock to cumbia and international classics- to transform them into cheers for their team.

In my case, I am a fan of Club Atletico River Plate and I always liked some versions of their songs. One of them is the one that says “Al fin, van a decir verdad en los diarios, que River es el más grande de todos y nunca abandonó” which reverses one of the famous songs of the national rock group Callejeros.

The song “Pasos al costado” by the group Turf, was reversioned by River Plate fans to create “Y vamos, vamos, vamos millonario” (And let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go millionaire). The group was invited to play at the pregame of the final of the libertadores River vs Flamengo.

Turf is a very popular Argentine rock/pop band from the early 2000s. This band is formed by vocalist and guitarist Joaquin Levinton, guitarist Leandro Lopatin, bassist Carlos Tapia, drummer Fernando Caloia and keyboardist Nicolás Ottavianelli.

The song “Pasos al costado” is part of the album “Para mi, para vos” released in 2004. The album features two of their most famous songs: No se llama amor and Pasos al Costado, as well as a collaboration with the legendary Charly Garcia.
