Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Me vas a extrañar: Damas Gratis

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: Tu Locura: Gustavo Cerati

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Me vas a extrañar of the argentine group Damas Gratis.

This will be one of the first times that I bring cumbia songs. It is not my favorite music genre, but in Argentina there are very good groups like: Los Palmeras, Rafaga, Amar Azul, Damas Gratis and La Nueva Luna.

Before I was eighteen years old, my schoolmates and I used to go to discotheques quite often. Most of them featured not so well known artists, but we chose a very popular disco: Pinar de Rocha. The times I had the opportunity to go, Pablo Lescano with Damas Gratis was playing, and the place exploded with energy.

Thanks to that night, I ended up getting to know the group and listening to several of their hits such as Costumbres, No te creas tan importante, Me vas a extrañar and Me muero de amor.

Damas Gratis is a band founded by the father of cumbia villera Pablo Lezcano in 2000. Pablo Lescano was gaining experience by participating in bands as keyboardist: Amar Azul and Flor de Piedra.

His first album “Para los pibes” was released in 2001, it included his first song “Se te ve la tanga” which was a complete success becoming a classic of the genre.

Me vas a extrañar is part of the album “40 minutos ATR” released in 2018. It is a collaboration between Damas Gratis and artist Viru Kumbieron. On the Spotify platform it has 150 million plays, while on Youtube with 525 million plays.
