Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Ghetto Bird: Ice Cube

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: Rio Babel: Gustavo Cerati

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Ghetto Bird of the nort-american artist Ice Cube.

I'm quite fond of Ice Cube because he was one of the first artists I got to know in the Hip-Hop genre along with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre. I think one of the first contacts with the artist, was both in the singleplayer of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas as in the multiplayer, where some acquaintances I had at that time, had taught me quite a few songs of old school Rap.

I was only 13 years old and I was starting to discover a new world of music. I had a time where I lived listening to Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube songs on Youtube. I think the moment where I got more into old school Hip-Hop, was when I was pretty bored surfing Netflix. I found a movie/documentary called “Straigth Outta Compton”.

Straigth Outta Compton was about one of the most legendary bands in Rap: N.W.A. I remember I couldn't believe that artists like Dr.Dre, Eazy-E and Ice Cube grew up in the same group. In the movie, one of Ice Cube's best songs comes out: “No Vaseline”. This song is a diss-track where he targets all the ex-members of N.W.A and destroys them one by one.

Ghetto Bird is a song by Ice Cube that is part of the album Lethal Injection released in 1993. The song is a criticism of police surveillance in the poorest neighborhoods, where police helicopters used to fly overhead.

The new format will be similar to the one we used some time ago, using the Hive Tools application. However, the application didn't always work, so this time we will be using a Discord bot that is in charge of returning a winner from among all the comments on a Hive post.
