Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Get Up I Feel Like Being Like A Sex Machine of James Brown and The Original J.B.s.

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: Escape: Rupert Holmes

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Get Up I Feel Like Being Like A Sex Machine of James Brown and The Original J.B.s.

In my case, my first contact was thanks to the Argentinean artist Charly Garcia. In my favorite album called “Clics Modernos” in his song

“No me dejan salir” he uses a sample of the song “Hot Pants Part. 1 (She Got To Use What She Got To Get What She Wants)” in which a James Brown's shout is used repeatedly.

When I heard that, I wanted to explore more of James Brown's music. Up to that point, i had not listened to almost any artist of the soul genre. Perhaps of a genre that had a great influence on soul: jazz

I explored his profile with Spotify and came across familiar songs like The Boss and I Got You. But I had also come across songs I had never heard before and this is the case with Get Up Offa That Ting and It's A Man, Man's, Man's World.

James Brown was born in 1933 in the United States. In the 50's, the artist gained popularity after participating in The Famous Flames, with hits such as Please, Pleas, Please.

However, worldwide success did not come until the next decade: the 60's. Thanks to releases such as Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, I Got You and Sex Machine, he managed to establish himself as one of the pioneers of Soul.

Get Up I Feel Like Being Like A Sex Machine belongs to the album Sex Machine released in 1970. In this song, James Brown collaborates with The Original J.B.S (a backing band of the artist that accompanied him to his recordings and live shows).
