Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Gangnam Style: Psy

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: It´s a Man´s, Man´s, Man´s World: James Brown

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Gangnam Style of the korean artist PSY.

My choice for today is pretty random, it came from a post I saw that gave me a nostalgic jolt. I was bored, scrolling memes on Instagram, when I came across a video with the caption “The closest we came to achieving world peace”. It showed PSY giving a concert, singing his iconic song, while an audience of different ethnicities danced in unison, all happy and united.

I don't know if I'm going out on a limb here, but I think it was the first truly VIRAL song on the internet. At least, I remember when I was a teenager it was trending for a month and there wasn't a single person who hadn't heard it.Another example of such a song was “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, which at the time was played absolutely everywhere. At the beginning you sang along to it, but eventually you got sick of listening to it.

I think when the song came out I was in my last year of elementary school, so that song was a complete trend in my class. There was no one who didn't know it and who didn't do the horse trot dance.

I also took the opportunity to annoy a K-Pop fanatic friend of mine by telling him that this was real “K-Pop”, not the current stuff he listens to.

Park Jae-sang is a South Korean singer and producer. He was known worldwide thanks to his song Gangnam Style, which was released in 2012. Thanks to its success, it opened the doors of the Korean music industry to the West.

The new format will be similar to the one we used some time ago, using the Hive Tools application.
