Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - A los jovenes de ayer: Serú Giran

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: Fanky of Charly Garcia.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is A los jovenes de ayer: Serú Giran.

I remember that after I had studied Charly Garcia's musical works as a soloist, I decided to start searching about his songs in the different groups he was part of in his life. One of them is Sui Generis, which was the first contact I had with the artist in my life, thanks to his songs “Canción para mi muerte” and “Rasguña las piedras”.

Another of the groups was La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros, which passed without much repercussion. There was still their most emblematic band: Serú Girán. At the beginning, it was hard for me to get hooked on their music, since the style was quite different from the one Charly developed in his solo stage. After giving him several opportunities, I only got hooked with songs like “Perro Andaluz” and “Viernes 3 A.M”.

In the last few months, I decided to listen to all his complete albums and discovered great songs like “No llores por mi Argentina”, “A los jovenes de ayer”, “Peperina” and “Cinema Verite”.

Seru Giran was founded in 1978 by successful artists such as: Charly Garcia, David Lebón, Pedro Aznar and Oscar Moro.

In the same year of its foundation, they released their first album called: Seru Giran. The public was quite disappointed with the album because they expected another form of music, so it was the source of many criticisms.

However, the band did not give up and the following year they released their second album: “La grasa de las capitales”. This album was a complete success, winning back the public.

The song “A los jovenes de ayer” is part of the band's third album “Bicicleta” which was released in 1980. The song has 6 million plays on the Spotify platform and 500,000 on Youtube.
