Splinterlands Fan Art: HELIOS MATRIARCH. Weekly Art Contest - 300
Hello Everyone.
How are you?
I hope you're doing well and leading a sound life. I will bring you another one of my artwork today. This one is also a digital drawing fan art of a monster of Splinterlands. I drew this one to participate in the weekly art contest arranged by @splinterlands. I'll add the link to the contest at the end. Check it out if you feel interested. In this post, I'll share my drawing process, my tools and how I drew a fan art version of the original card quite different from the original. I hope you like my version.
The monster I drew today is named HELIOS MATRIARCH. I used my laptop, graphics tablet, stylus drawing touch pen, and a drawing software named ibis Paint. I'll attach my drawing and the original image below and you can check it out. I'll also add the link to the contest at the end of my post. So, let's get started:-
Original Image

My Drawing
I began the drawing by sketching the structure of her body first. It was quite a difficult one because of her body structure and the special posture of her stance. I first completed her body part and then added the other parts such as her horns, hair, eyes and ears.
And then I added the extra details such as her weapon, jewellery and her dress too.
In this step, I worked on her skin tone. I started by adding this primary colour. Then I added a white smooth layer above it with 60% transparency and I used the spray brush tool to put the colour.

As a finisher, I used a smooth brush and the blending tools. I used some more deeper and lighter colour layers to visualize the shades and curves. As you can see, I have completed the drawing of her eyes and lips in this step too.
In this step, I started working on her dress. I began by adding the primary colours to it first. In this process, the fill tool from the app and the borderlines of the sketch helped me a lot to put specific colours in specific parts. As you can see her dress design was kind of complicated and it would be tricky to colour it using the brush tools.

Then, in this part, I gave the primary colours a touch and fixed the colour shade to a basic level. There's a lot more shading to do but I decided to finish her tail first as that was also a part of her body. I've completed the skin part and that's why I completed her tail.
And then I started to work on her hair part (another body part of her). After that, I also completed the remaining parts of her dress including the golden metal parts. To draw the hair, I used three colour layers. To draw the golden parts of her dress, I had to mix three separate colours and blend them all in using the blending tool and the transparency option. For the glowing golden parts, I added a light yellow colour and a bit of white colour using the spray brush tool.

The main character is done and the only thing left to draw is her weapon. I put the primary colour on it in this step.
In this step, I completed the colouring of her staff-type weapon. And started working on the background.

Dear beloved Hive creator,
Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋
We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.
For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
