Splinterlands Art Contest Week 371 | Nectar Queen 🐝

Good morning, my dear readers who love art and card games. Happy Tuesday to everyone reading this here this morning. I hope you are all doing great and, of course, having a wonderful and productive week. Greetings from your friend Manuel, who is very happy to bring you a new artistic post for my blog. This time, I'm bringing you my entry for this new week for the #Splinterlands community friends' dynamic, where every week they encourage us to illustrate characters and cards from their wonderful and immersive game. In this case, I wanted to choose the card of the Nectar Queen, which is a very particular type of queen bee, since unlike common bees, these bees like to feed on the blood of those they attack, and when you hear the buzzing of their wings in the distance, it is a direct signal to flee the area:

Muy buenos días mis queridísimos lectores y lectoras amantes del arte y de los juegos de cartas, feliz martes para todos los que me leen por aquí en este mañana, espero que se encuentren super bien y que por supuesto este teniendo una maravillosa y productiva semana, por aquí los saluda una nueva oportunidad su amigo Manuel super feliz de poder traerles un nuevo post artístico para mi blog. Esta oportunidad vengo con lo que seria mi entrada para esta nueva semana para la dinámica de los amigos de la comunidad de #Splinterlands, donde cada semana nos incentivan a ilustrar personajes y cartas de su maravillo e inmersivo juego; en este caso esta vez quise optar por una la carta de (Nectar Queen), la cual es una especie de abeja reina muy particular, ya que a diferencia de las abejas comunes a estas abejas les gusta alimentarse de sangre de aquellos a los cuales atacan, y cuando se escucha a la distancia el zumbido del movimiento de sus alas es una señal directa para huir del lugar:

In this case, I wanted to represent the creature (Nectar Queen), but with a more humanized or hybrid style, so that the concept of the character as a queen bee would make more sense. I also like to adapt the works a little to my own style from time to time. Once I finished the sketch, I moved straight on to choosing the colors. For the skin, for example, I used a base of brown and yellow tones to achieve a fairly natural skin tone. In this case, I worked more with my airbrush brush to achieve shadows, highlights, and adequate volume.

En este caso quise representar a la criatura (Nectar Queen), pero con un estilo mas humanizado o hibrido, de esta manera tendría mejor sentido el concepto de abeja reina del personaje, además que me gustar de vez en cuando adaptar un poco las obras mas a mi estilo. Una vez termine con el boceto me pase directamente a la elección de los colores, para el apartado de la piel por ejemplo use una base de tonos marrones y amarillos para lograr una piel bastante natural, en este caso trabaje mas con mi pincel de aerógrafo para lograr sombras, luces y un volumen adecuado.

For the face, I picked up the airbrush brush again and began to apply small strokes to the cheek area. This basically makes the character look a little warmer and therefore more lifelike. Then, for the eyes, I used a slightly bluer color palette. In this case, I first worked on the base of the eyes with a flat brush, and then, with watercolor, I gradually detailed the inner part of the iris and pupil, adding highlights to the edges. For the hair, I used a slightly more yellowish color palette to create a short ponytail hairstyle. Here, I used more watercolor for the base texture and thick strands, and finally my bristle brush for the fine surface strands of hair to give a little more relief.

En el apartado del rostro tome nuevamente el pincel aerógrafo y comencé a dar pequeños brochazos en la zona de las mejillas, esto básicamente produce que el personaje tome un poco mas de calidez y por ende mejor vida; luego para el apartado de los ojos use una paleta de colores un poco mas azulada, en este caso con un pincel plano primero trabaje la base de los ojos, y luego con la acuarela fui detallando poco a poco la parte interna del iris y la pupila, colocando brillos en los bordes. Para el trabajo de la cabellera use una paleta de colores un poco mas amarillenta para crear un peinado como coleta de caballo corta, aquí si use más la acuarela para la textura base y mechones gruesos, y por último mi pincel de cerdas para los finos mechones de pelo superficiales que dieran un poco más de relieve.

In the case of the clothing, I wanted to adapt the style of fur that the creature (Nectar Queen) has on its card a little. To do this, I used yellow and orange tones and a little white to create a kind of fur around the neck, and a low-cut corset or blouse. For this, I used my comic brush and my fine-tip brush to work on the texture a little in an upward direction, and then I finished the garments by adding some surface sparkles. To paint the wings, I used a few shades of sky blue to give them their basic shape and structure. I then adjusted the opacity of the layer a little to achieve some transparency in the wings. In this case, I darkened the wing that was further back a little more and gave it more intense shading, while I added a little more detail and shine to the other wing that is closer to the front.

En el caso de la vestimenta quise adaptar un poco el estilo de pelaje que tiene la criatura (Nectar Queen) en su carta, para esto tome unos tonos amarillos, naranjas y un poco de blanco para crear una especie de pelaje alrededor del cuello, y un corse o blusa escotada, para esto use mi pincel de comic y mi pincel de punta fina para trabajar un poco la textura de manera ascendente, y luego ultime las prendas colocando algunos brillos superficiales. Para el pintado de las alas use unos cuantos tonos azules celestes para darle la forma y estructura base, luego ajuste un poco la opacidad de la capa para lograr un poco de transparencia en las alas, en este caso oscurecí un poco más el ala que estaba más atrás y le di un sombreado mas intenso, mientras que a la otra ala que esta mas cerca de la parte frontal le agregue un poco mas de detalles y brillo.
