Splinterlands | ASHEN CINDERGRIM is a Wise Dwarf Wizard

Hello Splinterlands lovers!

Well, if you haven't noticed, the newly launched Conclave Arcana packs are getting sold quietly while we are busy battling, working on your collection, renting or brainstorming to find a juicy land ROI in Splinterlands. As of writing this post, only around 4.19 million Standard CA packs are there to be sold in the official shop and for other types, only 839k Alchemy and 419k Legendary packs are left to be sold, which I don't think will take a long while before those remaining packs get booked. No doubt the Conclave Arcana edition is a super-hit and not only in presale, where we saw millions of packs getting sold within just 2 weeks, it seems the general sale is also boosting its speed with increasing sales. On the other hand, lots of players, especially in modern format, are currently all in research mode, playing and toying with these newly introduced cards and making combos with the earlier Rebellion edition cards, trying to find out the next unbeatable lineup. Overall, the hype is only increasing in the lands of all these amazing splinters, and if you are witnessing it, you are one of the few lucky archons out there watching the rising revolution of a web3 game.

Now, many of you who play this game actively or love to accumulate assets have invested in the Conclave Arcana card set already, according to your capacity and plan. Some of you may have entered the pre-sale and bought packs heavily to get yourself some juicy Presale rewards, while some of you are investing in the general sale or keeping an eye and sniping out good deals in the cards market. Just like you, I also have invested a decent amount in the pre-sale and bought myself 417 Alchemy CA packs, which, of course, I have already opened all and claimed my share of cards. Out of them all, the best picks were the 6 Black Foil cards that I received and in the recent Splinterlands posts, I have been talking about each of them. So, continuing with the wave, allow me to showcase the fifth Black Foil monster card that l got in today’s post and if you are interested, let’s take a dive together without any further ado.

Ashen Cindergrim

The monster that I am about to showcase today is ASHEN CINDERGRIM, an old and wise looking wizard with a big magic wand in one of his hands while the other is casting spells. This is one of the 3 common cards that I received from the lot, and not to mention that I really loved its stats and magic attack, which is my favourite attack type. Because it is a black foil, it came right out of the box as a max level card, so it is purely battle ready even in the champion league and if you are a lover of using opportunity and sneak attacks, this monster might become your new favourite small attacker.

Now, looking at this wizard dwarf monster, it is a first of all, a common type card, so it will require 400 BCXs of regular foil cards and 38 BCXs of Gold foil cards to upgrade this monster to max level. It costs 4 mana to be used in battles, so you can easily select this monster in your lineup while playing small to medium mana limit matches, or if you have the Little Leagues ruleset. This monster belongs to the Fire element and its bloodline type is Dwarf. Its magic type is magic and even more interestingly, this monster possesses 3 abilities at max level and one of them is opportunity, so you can aim at those weak enemy monsters’ health directly right now. Apart from the Opportunity, it also holds 2 other abilities called - Silence and Painforge, one of the newest introduced abilities and more about them later. Now, besides having a good attack power, you also get a large amount of health and high speed on this card, which will definitely help you on the battlefield.

If we take a closer look at the league wise stats and abilities of this card, it only possesses 1 magic attack at 1 speed with 2 health, along with the opportunity ability that it gets since its initial level. But as this monster starts getting upgraded, it increases its magic attack to 2 at level 3, while slowly increasing its speed and health a little bit. Next, it increases its speed to 4 while its health remains at 2 at level 4, but the. It finally receives another awesome ability called Painforge at level 5. Afterwards, it again keeps growing its health and speed while reaching higher levels and at level 9, it finally increases its speed one last time from 3 to 4 and then gets the Silence ability at its max level. At max level, this card possesses 2 magic attacks at 4 speed with 5 health, along with these 3 abilities that I mentioned above. Now, let us learn about all three abilities below.

ability_painforge.png

PAINFORGE

Painforge is one of the newest abilities that was introduced in the game with the launch of CA cards. With this ability, the monster will get +1 power when damaged by poisoned or burning or hit by an ally.

As you can clearly see, this monster is a good choice against Poison or Burning damage, and if you can increase its health by a bit and then use its Painforge ability to attack for longer, the match will surely turn to your side. Now I didn't get the ‘hit by an ally’ things mentioned in the ability and my wild guess is that it is related to the bloodlines maybe, but please let me know if you have any knowledge on this.

ability_opportunity.png

OPPORTUNITY

The second ability that this monster owns is one of my favourite attack abilities, the Opportunity. This one is a pretty old, well-known and well-used ability and Monsters with this ability will target the enemy card with the lowest health. Now, for this particular card, because its attack type is magic, it will ignore any armour on that targeted monster and hit its health straight. So though its 2 attack seems weaker, its magic + Opportunity combo opened a grand advantage for you.

ability_silence.png

SILENCE

The third and last ability that this monster card holds is the silence ability and just like the opportunity, it is also a pretty old ability in this and heavily used by players. Monsters with this ability will reduce 1 magic power to all enemy units. So clearly, this monster is a pretty good choice to weaken the enemy Magic monsters, so try using it whenever you guess your opponent would use multiple magic monsters against you.

That’s it for this monster and I am sure that you love this wise old dwarf. The best 2 features of this card that I think are worth mentioning are, first, the magic attack + opportunity combo and secondly, the Silence ability to weaken magic enemy units. As for its other stats, having a 5 health bar and 4 speed at max level for a 4 mana card seems well justified to me. What do you think?

I hope you enjoyed reading my post about the ASHEN CINDERGRIM. Please let me know your thoughts about this monster in the comments section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.

He's got good abilities for only four mana. I'd use him beside Khazi Conjurer to take advantage of Painforge.

The Painforge ability seems to be gaining good popularity already, glad to see you already making an awesome strategy with Khazi Conjurer. Keep experimenting and you will discover more combos like this.

It's a good card for 4 mana and its silence makes it just a good anti- magic card when used together with the Archon, Fifthe Bladestone since they are both dwarves.

Yes, mixing the bloodline along with its abilities, especially silence in anti-magic situations, would be an amazing strategy. Also, being 4 mana opens many doors for this card, as it will be usable for a wide mana range of battles.
