Hello dear Hiver,
another post about my absolute favorite destination, New York. During our second stay there, we strolled through Times Square and saw the recruiting office of the American armed forces. Makes you want to march in there yourself and enlist for life. Jokes aside, but it gave us the idea to visit the decommissioned aircraft carrier Intrepid, which lies as a museum ship in the Hudson River. So said done we went there by subway and already the first sight was overwhelming. Such a huge ship with the countless planes on deck is already impressive. And it also floats! Wow. Inside you can go through some exhibitions, which tell about the active missions of the Intrepid in different wars. Inside, you get a really good feeling of what it must have been like for the sailors on board back then. But the absolute highlight is the flight deck where the planes are located. Among other things, there is an F16 Eagle and an F14 Tomcat, the jet from Top Gun! For interested really a feast for the eyes and a great experience. I can only recommend the visit to everyone, it's worth it!

Hallo liebe Hiver,
ein weiterer Post zu meiner absoluten Lieblingsdestination New York. Bei unserem zweiten Aufenthalt dort schlenderten wir über den Times Square und sahen das Rekrutierungsbüro der amerikanischen Streitkräfte. Da bekommt man gleich selbst Lust rein zu marschieren und sich lebenslang zu verpflichten. Spaß beiseite, aber es brachte uns auf die Idee den ausgemusterten Flugzeugträger Intrepid zu besichtigen, der als Museumsschiff im Hudson River liegt. Also gesagt getan fuhren wir mit der U-Bahn hin und schon der erste Anblick war überwältigend. So ein riesiges Schiff mit den unzähligen Flugzeugen an Deck ist schon beeindruckend. Und es schwimmt auch noch! Wow. Im Inneren kann man dann durch einige Ausstellungen gehen, die von den aktiven Einsätzen der Intrepid in verschiedensten Kriegen berichten. Im Inneren bekommt man ein richtig gutes Gefühl, wie das damals für die Seeleute an Bord gewesen sein muss. Aber das absolute Highlight ist das Flugdeck auf dem die Flugzeuge stehen. Hier stehen unter anderem auch eine F16 Eagle und eine F14 Tomcat, der Jet aus Top Gun! Für interessierte wirklich ein Augenschmaus und tolles Erlebnis. Ich kann den Besuch wirklich nur jedem ans Herz legen, es lohnt sich!
