Sinister Death by Underboss Fabino

Death faction was trying to invade a patch of land dedicated to goblins by the Elven King in a Praetorian forest and wanted to expand their realm. Goblins did not like their invasion plan and thought of using force against them, but there was a problem.

Death monsters desecrated a glade in the forest and turned the plantations into thorny sprouts, trees had also grown thorns on their branches and trunks. Goblins called Underboss Fabino to solve this problem, he came up with a plan and went into the glade with his team to eliminate Death guards.

Briar Patch

Briar Patch applies Thorns ability on all units, now any melee unit who attacks any monster will take 2 melee damage from thorns. Thorns only affect melee units, so it is good to use magic and ranged units when the Briar Patch ruleset appears in a battle.

Additional Rulesets: Up Close & Personal

This ruleset bans all units except melee monsters, players can only use melee or dual attack units with melee skills.

BATTLE LINEUP

This battle allow 25 mana for summoner and monsters, so I had to make a team that worked quite well and survived in this battle with a killer combo of rulesets.

STRATEGY

It was understood that I and my opponent would use melee monsters and it could be tough to protect my units from both incoming attacks and thorn damage. Therefore, I made a simple and effective strategy to take less damage and let the enemy units die when attacking me.

• Underboss Fabino was used as a summoner, he would poison the strongest monster and let him die with both Thorns and poison damage.
• A tank with Shield ability would take less damage from melee and thorns.
• A Reach unit is added to attack from 2nd position and remove the enemy tank as soon as possible.
• It was good to weaken enemy melee units by introducing a Demoralize unit, it would reduce 1 attack point from their damage.

Summoner and Monsters in Action

Underboss Fabino is a rare Earth summoner, he knows how to silently poison an enemy unit without making a noise, but he also knows how to sharpen melee weapons in a battle and boost 2 of its melee unit attacks. Fabino is a tactics summoner who uses his skill according to battle situations.

Mycelic Infantry is used as a tank because he has a thick hide that protects him from taking 1 less melee damage in a battle as he possesses Shield ability. However, he is very slow and misses a lot of hits on his enemies.

Orc Sergeant is placed in 2nd position to use his Reach ability and attack from behind. He is a common monster from Earth splinter, his attack is low but possesses a good medium health.

Disintegrator is the protagonist in this battle as he reduces 1 melee attack from all enemy units, it makes Mycelic Infantry more powerful to sustain 1 damage without losing any health. Disintegrator is a common neutral monster and uses the Demoralize ability to reduce melee attacks.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

Underboss Fabino reviews the battle lineup of his opponent and drops a puff of ash to the ground. He chooses Cursed Windeku as a prime target for poison treatment, he throws a bottle of toxic substance on him, he is all green and will die slowly as the battle goes on.

Astral Entity terminates 2 armor points from Fabino's units and bestows his units with Dodge ability.

Round 1
Ever-Hungry Skull and Arachne Thug start hitting Mycelic Infantry, but they cannot damage him as he is shielded with a thick hide, they damage themselves as Briar thorns are everywhere around the battlefield.

"Foolish summoner, his units cannot miss, but we can, and it is the worst strategy for in this forest full of thorns' shouts Orc Sergeant with a scary laugh.

Rounds 2 to 4
Arachne Thug who is badly wounded with briar pricks gets angry on Astral Entity and curses him "Damn you, the orc is correct about, you know nothing about battle strategy, go try your buff in the space, we are already losing this battle."

Ever-Hungry Skull loses all his armor and as he hits and attacks Mycelic Infantry a sharp patch of steel-hard thorns cracks his jaw, but Astral Entity revives him and he fights back with 8 armor points.

Arachne Thug attacks Mycelic Infantry in a desperate attempt to damage him, but soon he realizes that a bunch of briar thorns ripped his bulging stomach and he oozes green fluids from his body. Arachne Thug dies as he loses all his life power slowly.

Rounds 5 to 6
"Meraviglioso, guarda i miei adorabili amici, come funziona il mio veleno." says Underboss Fabino in Italian as Cursed Windeku dies of poison damage he took each round.

"Err! Boss, what did you just say?" asks Orc Sergeant with an exclamation mark on his face."**

Fabino Responds with a flying kiss"Muah! Amico mio, I just said that my poison worked well and Windeku killed."

Round 7
Mycelic Infantry removes all the armor of Ever-Hungry Skull and now he is ready to die by his attack. Ever-Hungry Skull attacks him again breaks his jaw and falls to the ground in 2 pieces.

"Penso a una cena a base di carogne stasera, che ne dici sergente?" says Fabino to Orc as he seems interested in having a Carrion in his dinner.

"Got you, boss, I'll make a nice roasted carrion cuisine." replies Orc Sergeant.

Carrion Shade tries to bite Mycelic Infantry but thorns catch him and rip his throat when separated from his body.

Orc puts on the shoulder and walks away from the glade.

Fabino takes a deep puff of his cigar and exhales a dark smoke "Andiamo dal grande capo Giovanni Gobson e gli diamo la buona notizia."

STRATEGY OUTCOME ANALYSIS

Fighting a battle with the "Briar Patch" ruleset is not a big issue, but the problem arises when you have to use all melee units as Thorns ability only affects melee units.

It was important to take reduced damage by putting a unit with Shield as it will take less damage from both melee attacks and damage from Thorns. Mycelic Infantory was a perfect choice against melee units and the Briar Patch ruleset.

Underboss Fabino nicely removed one unit without even giving it a chance to damage my units, Cursed Windeku died within 5 rounds as he took 2 damage from the Poison effect.

Disintegrator played an important role in reducing the melee attack of all enemy units, and it nullified all attacks made on Mycelic Infantry and he did not lose any health from enemy attacks.

It is a good strategy and worked well, but I think if my opponent had used a dual-attack unit with magic or ranged damage then there could be a little problem.
