Magically Boosted Thorns (Battle Mage Secrets - Amplify)

Sometimes, Mages carve their path to find the darkest of the battle secrets, they don't follow the regular route, they go into the depths of the caves or swim across the angry waters, and find the most valuable secrets no one has yet explored.

This week the mage strived hard to find a suitable battle where he could keep his distance, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned. So, he decided to explore other secrets buried in the darkest catacombs of Praetoria.

The battle is focused on using "Amplify" ability to its best, and how the summoner boosted his "Thorns" damage.

UP TO ELEVEN

This is a very useful ruleset for boosting some special attacks such as Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns. When this ruleset comes into effect, all monsters receive Amplify ability in the battle.

Additional Ruleset: Close Range

Close Range ruleset is also an ability itself, this ruleset allows all Ranged Monsters to attack in the first position. Normally, a ranged attacker cannot attack when placed in the first position.

Additional Ruleset: Odd Ones Out

This is a restriction where a player cannot use even number cards instead he/she can use odd mana costing cards only.

BATTLE LINEUP

All monsters and summoner are hand-picked and pose a big threat to any powerful team using the fiercest monsters against my team.

Following list includes all the summoners and monsters from both sides:

STRATEGY

To make the best use of Amplify, my strategy was to torture enemy melee monsters with Thorns and make them die in the process of hitting my monsters.

I used a summoner who applied Thorns to all friendly monsters because the brawl came up with Amplify ruleset and it was the best time to trick my opponent to take some more damage this way.

Summoner and Monsters in Action

Mylor Crowling is a very intelligent summoner, he wraps his party with special traps imbued with Thorn-like damage which are very effective against melee monsters for taking some extra damage.

Paladin Rakk holds the first position and fights valiantly until he died of several lethal attacks. He is a gladiator and raises his stats when he kills a monster.

Terraceous Hulk is a huge tank with Taunt ability, he lures the enemy to attack him instead of any other friendly unit. His special Void armor can take magic damage on it.

Ancient Redwood is placed in 3rd position, he throws pine trees at his enemy and his damage can kill small monsters instantly. He never misses an attack because he is bestowed with True Strike ability.

Mushroom Sear is used to reduce the magic damage of enemy monsters by 1 point using his Silence ability.

Mycelic Slipspawn is another Taunt monster in the team, his role is to protect other team members until he dies. He throws magic spores on his enemies and makes them regret joining the battle.

Uloth Dhampir stands tall at the last position, if he survives he can use his attack even in the first position due to the Close Range ruleset. His Stun ability sends the enemy monster to lose consciousness for 1 round.

This is a brawl battle where both opponents have used gladiator and legendary cards to create true mayhem in the wild. You'll enjoy the ending for sure.

BATTLE COMMENTARY

The battle starts with buffs being applied to monsters. Mylor Crowling attaches special traps around each friendly monster, and Daria Dragonscale uplifts the melee attack of her melee units.

Noa shreds some of the armor of Earth units and Mushroom Seer tries to reduce the magic attack of enemy monsters, but it cannot because there is only a magic attacker with 1 attack point only.

Rounds 1
Noa the Just took a lot of damage but he survives to die another time.

Terraceous Hulk takes a huge damage and dies in the end because enemy monsters are too powerful, his thorns remove armor from melee monsters which is a good thing.

Round 2
"Don't touch me, Noa, you'll regret the consequences. angrily says Paladin Rakk.

But, Noa pays no heed to his warning and dies of excruciating damage from thorns.

Mycelic chirps in a dithered voice "Marrshter Mind murrsht die rrr." and he spreads some poisonous spore around his tentacles, he starts to rot like a dead fish.

Sand Worm attacks from behind and his powerful below kills the creepy fungus Slipspawn.

Round 3
Again Rakk shouts with a grudge "Vorst, I'll die, but I swear, I'll be your worst nightmare and you'll die by my hand."

Isgald Vorst lands a slashing blow on Rakk and falls on his thorn traps and dies along with Rakk.

Ancient Redwood yells "I am Redwood." and hurls a tall pine tree at Venari Wavesmith, as he never misses a hit, Wavesmith turns into a pulp under the tree's trunk.

Sand Worm now faces Redwood, but as he attacks Redwood the traps activate and slice the worm into 100 tiny pieces, and both monsters die together.

Rounds 4 and 5
Mushroom Seer and Swamp Spitter are facing each other, Seer knows he can't survive but he weakens him so Uloth can finish him easily. Seer dies after taking piercing darts from Spitter.

Rounds 6 to 8
Now, Uloth has to stun him to win the battle, but it seems his projectiles are not hitting Spitter's head, Uloth becomes weak but he is determined to win.

"Spitter, just one hit on your head and you'll not even see your death." says Uloth Dhampir in a composed way and takes a big breath, aims at Spitter's head, pulls the strings, frees the projectile, and it perfectly hits the center of the head.

As Spitter faints and passes out, Uloth casts another projectile aiming his neck this time. This time the projectile tears his throat and Spitter turns dead without knowing about his death.

STRATEGY OUTCOME ANALYSIS

The goal of the strategy was to destroy melee monsters with thorns and Amplify abilities, which was served in the right fashion. The strategy proved to be one of a kind.

My opponent had used Daria to enhance the melee attacks, which did a nice job in the first round, but then in 2nd round, a heap of melee monsters died due to Thorns' damage.

The end was very interesting when both ranged monsters challenged each other and finally, a victory was thrown in my lap.

Amplify is a game changer if used properly, the ruleset can be used to gain the advantage over the opponent with other special damage abilities like I did in this battle.
