Splinterlands: Ulundin Overseer the Underrated Tank

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge! In my entry to this week's challenge: Hidden Gems, I'll share about a recent card I bought. It's only cheap at 20 cents a copy but it contributes a lot in my battles. He's the underrated tank, Ulundin Overseer.
Lore

Ulunds are generally a defensive race. The new Conclave Arcana archon specializes on defense and grant the Shield ability to all ulunds. Being a defensive tank is the main role of the Ulundin Overseer.
The ulund are a fiercely territorial race, and their overseers are the weighty enforcers of their city-state's borders. Massive girth undulating, earth trembling beneath each lumbering stride—the sight of one leading a charge is unlike no other.
In combat, their physical efforts largely consist of simply standing firm. It serves their ulund compatriots well, however, as the overseer's thick hide creates a nearly impenetrable barrier.
Stats and Abilities

The Ulundin Overseer is a common, neutral tank with eleven mana. It's a beefy tank boasting of ten armor and seventeen health at maxed levels. It also has the Flank ability starting at level one so you can place a strong damage dealer tank behind it. My Ulundin Overseer is only at level one but he's already tanky with five armor and twelve health.
Role in Battle, Combos and Rulesets
Ulundin Overseer's role in battle is pretty much defined. He's there to take damage in the front. His Flank ability makes him a good position one card and combo with a strong damage dealer tank. However, he can also combo with units that has the Weapons Training ability to give him an attack.

As for rulesets, he will be great in punishing rulesets that decrease health each round like Noxious Fumes, Global Warming and Earthquake. It's huge health pool will benefit him greatly as he survives longer than other units. He can also be a good choice in rulesets such as Shades of Grey where he can combo with other tanks like Mantaroth or units with Weapons Training like Bren Palesworn. He's also great in Keep Your Distance ruleset where no melee units are allowed. He can combo with Moxian Rebel who can grant him magic attack.
Featured Battle

In this battle, the ruleset included Global Warming where all units have the burning status effect that reduces health by two each round. My strategy was to field high health and high damage cards. I intended to be sustained from burning and eliminate the enemy team quickly at the same time before the game ends in a draw.
I decided on a magic team since I recently bought the Frontier archon and levelled her up to three. My tank was the Ulundin Overseer where its massive twelve health will be an advantage. Behind him I had Commander Slade, a powerful damage dealer tank who is weak against magic attacks. This is the perfect position for him to do damage while being protected against attacks. In third position I had the Mystic Scaleweaver, the strongest Frontier card who deals two magic damage and has the Slow ability. In fourth I had Torrent Sniper who deals two magic damage and has eight health and in the last position I had Abyssal Elemental who can resurrect and deal melee damage at the same time.
The enemy team also had a magic team but instead of a beefy tank, he had a healer and included the Shock Trooper to his team. It has the Electrified debilitation which will further damage his team by one each round.
The battle was close and decided by a one on one fight. My strategy of having the higher health units paid off as I won the battle with the slimmest of margins.
Final Thoughts
Splinterlands is a rich and diverse game. There are cards out there that may seem under rated but they can play a huge role in battles. The Ulundin Overseer is an example of such card. It's only cheap at 20 cents a copy and yet it has a lot of utility for its price. It's our job as summoners to find these cards and unlock their value. This is what makes Splinterlands a fun game to play. You may not have all the legendary powerful cards but you can still win if you use the right cards.
