Splinterlands: The Water Magic Team in the Frontier

avatar

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! In the Frontier, the meta is no doubt the Water splinter. It's similar to the team before Chaos Legion when Alric Stormbringer was one of the top archons. The Water splinter is easy to play even for beginners because they have the best units. Sure, they can be countered but it takes a good strategy and team synergy to counter Water.

The Water Splinter

The Water splinter has the best units in the Frontier. In addition, there are good magic units in the Neutral splinter that can add muscle to the Water team.

Marlai Singariel

Mariel Singariel is the archon. She adds an additional magic attack to magic units making them stronger. This makes Water the strongest attacking splinter while Life is focused on defense, Earth on health and Fire on speed. She is comparable to Alric Stormbringer who is the meta archon back in the day.

My Marlai is currently at level three and I'm close to maxing her out. She is good that I even use her in the Modern mode.

Mystic Scaleweaver

Mystic Scaleweaver is no doubt the best card in the Frontier. At maxed level it deals three magic damage, has seven health and two speed. It also slows down the enemy team with its ability.

Saltwater Mage

Saltwater Mage is arguably the best epic card in the Frontier. It deals two magic damage, has five health and two speed at level one. I intend to max my Saltwater Mage to increase her stats. She also has the Sneak ability.

Asel Alagosdil

Asel Alagosdil is the best no attack card. It has decent defense at level one and has the Divine Shield ability, adding another layer of protection. Maxing her out will further increase her defense and I intend to do so.

Great Bear Druid

Great Bear Druid is one of the cheap legendary cards in the Frontier. It has great utility though that can play as tank or off tank. Because of its price, it's very easy to max out and I already did so. It deals dual damage of one magic and two melee. It has six health and three speed making it an ideal tank or off tank for a Water magic team.

The Other Guys

Lunaki HowlerWater Logged WizardColossus RaiderPort Guardian

Making up the rest of the Water team are dependable role players. The Lunaki Howler and Water Logged Wizard adds more magic attackers. The Port Guardian is a good tank to absorb damage in front while the magic damage dealers attack the enemy from behind. The Colossus Raider is a good unit in low mana battles dealing two melee damage from second position.

Featured Battles

High Mana

The battle features the Water team I usually use in the Frontier. The Port Guardian stands at first position to absorb damage. The Great Bear Druid is on second position dealing magic damage while being the reserve tank once the Port Guardian gets defeated. The Saltwater Mage is in third position followed by Lunaki Howler and Water Logged Wizard. Finally, the Mystic Scaleweaver is in the back. Her position is intentional as her role is to absorb sneak attacks as well as to deal magic damage.

The enemy also used the same team but my archon and units are at a higher level that gave me the advantage. Both my legendary cards are maxed out giving them extra attacks.

Low Mana

The Water splinter is also great at low mana battles with Asel Alagosdil serving as tank. Her armor and Divine Shield ability gives her more protection in addition to her health stat. In a twenty six mana battle, my team is composed of Asel, Water Logged Wizard and Mystic Scaleweaver.

The enemy used Death with Nim Guard Captain having defense against magic attacks with Void ability. Still the strength of my magic attacks prevailed.

Final Thoughts

The Water Magic team is no doubt the meta in the Frontier because of their ease of use. Even beginners will not find it hard to win using the team. However, it does not mean that it's unbeatable. This is what's great about Splinterlands. You can win against strong teams by taking advantage of rulesets and your own teams synergy and abilities. In my next post, I'll share how Water teams are beaten.
