Splinterlands Guild Brawl and Buying Gladiator Cases

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! Our guild finished our recent brawl. My post today covers the results, the rewards we earned and my purchase and opening of Gladiator cases.

Guild Ranking and Personal Performance

Our guild finished in the middle of the standings at fourth place. We earned 110 crowns that we can use to upgrade our buildings.

I'm satisfied with my contribution in this brawl. I scored six wins out of eight battles. Each participant earned a juicy 5,700 merits and 70 SPS. My brawl rewards are a large portion of my weekly SPS earnings.

Purchase and Opening of Gladius Cases

I had almost eight thousand merits which I used to buy three cases. Each Gladius case contain five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. This means that I'll have fifteen new cards that will be added to my deck to upgrade them. I haven't been getting any legendary cards for a long time and I hope that I would get one this time.

The legendary cards remain elusive and even epics did not show up. I only got rare cards this time.

Featured Battle

This is my favorite battle and brought me satisfaction. The enemy guild prevented us from using Quora who is the most powerful Gladiator card in my opinion. She's even better than legendary cards in terms of utility.

Her stats and abilities are overpowered. She deals two magic and three melee damage, has a large health pool of tank and abilities that make her useful in battle. She can heal herself which makes her a great tank. Her dual attack plus Bloodlust ability makes her one of the most offensive units in the game.

The enemy guild used their tactic and prevented us from using Quora so I had to think of another strategy, expecting that my enemy will use her in battle.

My Team

I chose the Death splinter with Razi Clanktrap as archon. He grants the Close Range ability to the team. My strategy was to use high damage units to defeat Quora immediately. Ranged units in the Death splinter were my highest damage dealers. I also had the perfect tank in the Death splinter to counter Quora's offense.

Xulax Nightwind (tank)

Xulax Nightwind is an ideal tank to counter Quora. My Xulax is at level two and at this level he deals four melee attack and has three speed. On defense, he has seven armor and seven health. More importantly, his abilities counter Quora's attacks. Xulax has Void Armor that will use his armor to absorb Quora's damage. He also has Thorns that will retur damage to Quora as she attacks with melee. I supported Xulax with high damage dealers to quickly take down Quora before she heals herself.

Deep Delver (second position)

My level two Deep Delver deals three ranged damage and has two speed. It has an armor and four health on defense. It has the Rust ability to decrease the enemy team's armor stat.

Chaos Battle Mage (third position)

My Chaos Battle Mage is at level two. She deals three ranged damage and very fast with four speed. On defense she has an armor and five health. In terms of abilties, she has Piercing that will go through the enemy armor and Rebirth that allows her to resurrect once per battle. It would have been better if I put her in second position because of this ability.

Meriput Slinger

My Meriput Slinger is at level four but I can only use it up to level three because my archon is low level. At this level it deals four ranged damage, has three speed and five health. More importantly, it has the Impede ability which slows down its target. This is an added bonus to decrease Quora's speed.

Enemy Team

The enemy assembled a powerful team, it matched mine in terms of damage. His Underboss Fabino archon is at level four. He has a level three Quora in the tank position dealing two melee and magic damage. She is very tanky with twelve health coupled with her healing ability. In second position he had Lord Thanalor who deals three magic damage and has ten health. In third he had Swell Spore Beast that deals four ranged damage and True Strike ability. In last, he had a taunt unit that deals three ranged damage and has ten health.

The Battle

For tactics, Underboss Fabino went for offense. He added two melee damage to Quora. My team had to eliminate the enemy's taunt unit first before it can get to Quora. He was able to defeat my tank first. Thankfully, my team rallied and defeated Quora and Lord Thanalor. The enemy was left with a ranged unit that cannot attack from first position while my ranged units had the Close Range ability.

Final Thoughts

Guild Brawls provide a fun and rewarding way to play in Splinterlands. Participating in brawls lets me earn Merits to power up my deck, along with SPS rewards that I can either stake or use to buy new cards from the market. Joining a guild also comes with added benefits, such as increased Glint earnings. If you’re not part of a guild yet, you can join active guilds on the Splinterlands discord looking for new members.

Oh too bad. You'll lose all your battles unless you rent. This is why I bought a couple of gold archons in case I get assigned in gold fray.
