This week's battle mage secrets is Going the Distance. In this ruleset, only monsters with ranged attacks maybe used in battles.

For this battle the rules are:

Going the Distance: Only monsters with ranged attacks maybe used in battles.
Back to Basics: Monsters lose all abilities.
Available Splinters: Fire, Earth, Light and Dragon.
Maximum of 99 mana.

In this ruleset, Summoners that are good to use are General Sloan, Quiz the Devious and Ilthain. Ilthain would have been my first choice because of Return Fire that he gives to all monsters so I chose Quix over General Sloan. The reason is aside from decreasing the ranged damage of the enemy which counters General Sloans buff, Quix also gives additional speed to the team. I can also choose which Splinter to use depending on the situation by having a Dragon summoner.

My team was composed of:

Quix for summoner for the reasons stated above.

Drybone Raider in the tank position. I picked this card because of its three shields and seven hearts which is ideal to tank. Because of Back to Basics ruleset, it cannot use its abilities but at least it can still deal melee damage.

Zyvax Vuul in second position. Highly underrated card but great in this ruleset. I also picked this card because of its tankiness with nine hearts.

Berix Snakeye in third position. This card deals three damage and also very tanky. I am lucky to have this card in my deck.

Lava Launcher in the fourth position. Even at level 1 it deals three damage and has three speed. It also has six shield and five hearts to tank.

Scavo Firebolt in the fifth position. I generally use this card whenever I use the Fire Splinter. At four mana it's easy to slot in and deals four damage and has four speed.

Firecaller in the sixth and final position. This is another card I frequently use in the backline. Three ranged damage and three speed and has the Martyr ability that my sneakers can take advantage of. In this ruleset though, I chose this because of its damage.

My opponent picked Light Splinter with General Sloan as summoner. As you can see, his team is not as tanky and this may have led to his loss.
