Introduction
Hello everyone!
In the Battle Mage Secrets of this week, we have the ruleset Keep Your Distance, which prevents the use of Meele monsters.
That means you probably don't need to worry about monsters with Sneak. There are a few monsters with Range or Magic attack with this ability, so the chances of being surprised by that is low.
But if you want to surprise your opponent, this could be a good idea.
There are much more Snipe monsters, and these you need to pay more attention and maybe is worth to put a good one for this position.
For those who don't remember, Snipe monsters attack the first back line monster that doesn't have Meele attack.
How to deal with this ruleset
But most of time, this isn't your biggest concern. First of all, you need to put a good tanker for the front line position.
In my experience someone that hold especially Magic attacks.
For that, you can use a monster with Void ability or a summoner that gives it to your team.
You can counter Ranges with armor, provided by some summoners or monsters with Protect ability.

You can also combine that with Return Fire ability, punishing range attacks by reflecting part of the damage received.
Good combinations for this ruleset
I will show my two favorite combinations that works in lower leagues like Silver.
The first one is using Djinn Oshannus and Baakjira, both have Void ability, combined with armor and Return Fire ability provide by Lir Deepswimmer.
The positioning will depend. If you think your opponent will bring a lot of Snipes, then you put Baakjira in the first back line position and Oshannus in the front line. The opposite if you think he will not use Snipes.
The second one is put Centauri Mage in the front. She have Return Fire ability and in the gold league receive Repair, regenerating part of the armor damage taken.
You can provide armor for her by using Queen Mycelia. She also have Amplify, increasing the damage of the reflect abilities.
And for the summoner, one of my favorites: Immortalis. He bring Void ability to all the monsters of your team, helping a lot to hold magic attacks.
One of the combinations in action
I used the first combination mentioned above in a recent tournament sponsored by Splinterlands, but unfortunately my opponent didn't come with any Range monster.
This proves why you need to focus on counter the Magics first, since they can attack from any position and Ranges only from the back line(if doesn't have any ability to do this).
I chose Prismatic Energy for the first position, because it reflects Magic damage, combined with Lir to reflect Range damage also and River Nimph to Amplify this and remove any negative effect with Cleanse.
Right behind came Djinn Oshannus, to hold more damage while Axemaster taking every single monster down.
And that's exactly what he does. Every round he kill a opponent monster.

Considerations
When the ruleset Keep Your Distance appears and you can't use Meele monsters, the tanker function need to be doing by Magic or non-attack monsters.
Normally players focus on using a lot of Magics e sometimes didn't use Ranges, and that's why your main focus is to hold Magic attacks.
But is worth to use one or two Ranges with good attack, as you can see in the battle example, because the damage it can apply can be decisive in a battle.
