My Game Activity and Progress in Modern Format and in Wild Format + Various Considerations
On Splinterlands, ranked play is regulated by seasons that last an average of 15 days, and right now season 151 is underway and will end in 5 days and 21 hours.
Today I am sharing my game activity, my partial season results and my thoughts regarding the current season in which I am playing, for the fourth time in a row, in both formats of Ranked Play:
- Modern Format: I play manually and have fun.
- Wild Format: I (non)play using XBOT and have much less fun
My Modern Format Game Activity and Progress.
The Modern Format is by far my favorite format because in this format there are no bots and human players like me can enjoy playing manually.
Excluding the Chaos Legion and Rebellion cards that I have delegated to my curation account @libertygame27 that I use in the Wild Format in the Modern Format I use a card collection:
- consisting of 582 unbound cards = 18326 BCX = 440475 CP
- plus 135 soulbound reward cards = 11056 BCX = 165205 CP

The cards I use most frequently in Modern Format are the Chaos Legion cards that will come out of Modern Format in May when the new set of cards will be released.
When the Chaos Legion cards come out of Modern Format I will have to totally change my card collection if I want to continue to be competitive in Modern Format's Gold+ leagues but to do so I will wait until the new set is released.
When I will not be able to use my Chaos Legion cards the starting base for my card collection will be the Rebellion set and in particular it will be important for me to try to have as many of the Rebellion Rewards cards and also at the highest level.
In the previous season I made good progress in upgrading the Soulbound Rebellion cards thanks to the 200K Glint I accumulated from my battle victories in season 150.
This season the promotion that allowed to accumulate more Glint (1.5x instead of 1.0x) ended and I will hardly be able to accumulate 200K Glint again but I am still happy with the results I am getting because I have already accumulated more than 50K Glint from my battle victories which together with the Glint I will receive at the beginning of the new season will form a good amount of Glint to spend in the Glint Shop.
At the beginning of next season I will purchase 400 Common Draws with which I hope to complete the upgrade of all my Rebellion soulbound cards of common rarity.
I have already completed upgrading to the highest level of the Giant Alpine Skink and Chaos Evoker cards.
I am well on my way to the other 10 Rebellion soulbound cards because they are all at level 9.
When I have completed upgrading the common soulbound cards I can focus on upgrading the rare and epic soulbound cards.
Regarding my playing activity this season, I have mainly played in Diamond III and Diamond II leagues going up and down several times in these leagues.
Right now I am in the Diamond III league with only 40 rating points to enter the Diamond II league but my season goal is to finish the season at least in the Diamond I league.
I am in 517th place in the season leaderboard and have played 218 battles so far achieving 108 wins.
My partial win rate is better than last season (+1.01%) but I hope to finish the season with a win rate of at least 50%.
I am also making progress in accumulating staked SPS tokens, my goal is to reach an amount of 150K staked SPS and in my in-game wallet I have 128K staked SPS.
My Wild Format Game Activity and Progress.
In Wild Format season 151 is the fourth season in which I use XBOT.
The more I play in the Wild Format using a BOT, the more I regret not being able to use my Beta and Untamed cards against human players like me because:
- playing manually against bots is not fun for me.
- using a BOT is definitely little fun for me.
In the previous three seasons, I changed strategies several times especially regarding the amount of cards rented but my earnings in SPS did not cover the costs (Wild Pass + XBOT fees).

Splinterlands has fun gameplay but if in the Wild Format I cannot play manually against human players like me the fun element disappears and only one reason for fun remains: the profit.
If there is no profit in using a bot I don't have much reason to continue my test in the next season, I am thinking about it and will evaluate what to do at the end of this season.
My personal belief is that the current structure of ranked play is wrong and produces more negative effects (drives away new players) than positive (counteracts bots) comes out reinforced by my testing in using a bot in the Wild Format.
This is just my opinion and I will continue to share it often in my posts but in my opinion the structure of ranked play should be:
- Modern Format: only human players + any liquidity bots owned by Splinterlands.
- Wild Format: human players only + any liquidity bots owned by Splinterlands
- Bot Format: private bots and human players + Wild Pass.
My partial season results in the Wild Format are worse than the previous season.
This season I tried again to make changes to my strategy related to card rentals but it was evidently a pejorative choice and not an improving one.

In three seasons of using XBOT in the Wild Format my collection of Beta and Untamed cards worth $654 + a delegation of 50K SPS was not enough to cover seasonal costs.
I conclude this post:
- by showing graphs of DEC, SPS, VOUCHER and HIVE token values over a 60-day interval
- by sharing my latest battle played in the Modern Format.
An interesting point to note is that the SPS/DEC ratio is close to the minimum recorded in a 1-year time interval.
After more than 5 years since my first battle on Splinterlands I enjoy playing regularly every day and in the next image you can see my last battle played in the Modern Format which is the only format in which, in my opinion, beats the heart (the fun gameplay) of Splinterlands and in which human players like me have fun!
When the ruleset is Explosive Weaponery I like to use a combination of cards consisting of:
- 1 tank with the Taunt skill in first position.
- 1 card with the Martyr skill in second position
- 1 card with the Reflection Shield skill in third position.
- 1 or more cards with the Resurrect ability to amplify the potential of the Martyr ability**
My strategy worked well because I won the battle in round 5.

Oggi condivido la mia attività di gioco, i miei risultati stagionali parziali e le mie considerazioni relative alla stagione in corso in cui sto giocando, per la quarta volta consecutiva, in emtrambi i formati del Ranked Play:
- Modern Format: gioco manualmente e mi diverto
- Wild Format: (non)gioco utilizzando XBOT e mi diverto molto di meno
La mia attività di gioco e i miei progressi nel Modern Format
Il Modern Format è in assoluto il mio formato preferito perchè in questo formato non ci sono bots e i giocatori umani come me possono divertirsi a giocare manualmente.
Escludendo le carte Chaos Legion e Rebellion che ho delegato al mio curation account @libertygame27 che utilizzo nel Wild Format nel Modern Format utilizzo una collezione di carte:

Le carte che utilizzo con maggior frequenza nel Modern Format sono le carte Chaos Legion che usciranno dal Modern Format a maggio quando sarà rilasciato il nuovo set di carte.
Quando le carte Chaos Legion uscirannno dal Modern Format dovrò modificare totalmente la mia collezione di carte se voglio continuare ad essere competitivo nelle leghe Gold+ del Modern Format ma per farlo aspetterò il rilascio del nuovo set.
Quando non potrò utilizzare le mie carte Chaos Legion la base di partenza della mia collezione di carte sarà il set Rebellion e in particolare sarà importante per me cercare di avere il maggior numero delle carte Rebellion Rewards e anche al massimo livello.
Nella stagione precedente ho fatto degli importanti passi in avanti nell'upgrade delle carte Rebellion Soulbound grazie ai 200K Glint che ho accumulato grazie alle mie vittorie in battaglia nella stagione 150.
In questa stagione è terminata la promozione che permetteva di accumulare un numero maggiore di Glint (1.5x invece di 1.0x) e difficilmente riuscirò ad accumulare nuovamente 200K Glint ma sono comunque contento dei risultati che sto ottenendo perchè ho già accumulato più di 50K Glint dalle mie vittorie in battaglia che insieme ai Glint che riceverò all'inizio della nuova stagione formeranno un buon quantitativo di Glint da spendere nel Glint Shop.
All'inizio della prossima stagione acquisterò 400 Common Draws con i quali spero di completare l'upgrade di tutte le mie carte Rebellion soulbound di rarità comune.
Ho già completato l'upgrade al massimo livello delle carte Giant Alpine Skink e Chaos Evoker
Sono a buon punto per quanto riguarda le altre 10 carte Rebellion soulbound perchè sono tutte al livello 9.
Quando avrò completato l'upgrade delle carte soulbound comuni potrò focalizzarmi sull'upgrade delle carte soulbound rare ed epiche.
Per quanto riguarda la mia attività di gioco in questa stagione ho giocato prevalentemente nelle leghe Diamond III e Diamond II salendo e riscendendo più volte in queste leghe.
In questo momento sono nella lega Diamond III a soli 40 punti di rating per entrare nella lega Diamond II ma il mio obiettivo stagionale è di terminare la stagione almeno in lega Diamond I.
Sono al 517° posto nella leaderboard stagionale e fino ad oggi ho giocato 218 battaglie ottenendo 108 vittorie.
Il mio win rate parziale è migliore rispetto alla stagione precedente (+1.01%) ma spero di terminare la stagione con un win rate almeno del 50%.
Sto facendo dei progressi anche nell'accumulo dei token SPS staked, il mio obiettivo è raggiungere un quantitativo di 150K SPS staked e nel mio in-game wallet ho 128K SPS staked.
La mia attività di gioco nel Wild Format
Nel Wild Format la stagione 151 è la quarta stagione in cui uso XBOT.
Più gioco nel Wild Format utilizzando un BOT e più mi dispiace non poter utilizzare le mie carte Beta e Untamed contro giocatori umani come me perchè:
- giocare manualmente contro i bots non mi diverte
- utilizzare un BOT è decisamente poco divertente per me
Nelle tre stagioni precedenti ho cambiato più volte strategie soprattutto relativamente al quantitativo di carte noleggiate ma i miei guadagni in SPS non hanno coperto i costi (Wild Pass + XBOT fees).

Splinterlands ha un gameplay divertente ma se nel Wild Format non posso giocare manualmente contro giocatori umani come me l'elemento divertimento scompare e rimane un unico motivo di divertimento: il profitto.
Se manca il profitto nell'usare un Bot non ho molti motivi per continuare il mio test nella prossima stagione, ci sto riflettendo e valuterò cosa fare alla fine di questa stagione.
La mia personale convinzione è che l'attuale struttura del ranked play è sbagliata e produce più effetti negativi (allontana i nuovi giocatori) che positivi (contrasta i bots) esce rafforzata dal mio test nell'usare un bot nel Wild Format.
E' solo la mia opinione e continuerò a condividerla spesso nei miei post ma secondo me la struttura del ranked play dovrebbe essere questa:
- Modern Format: solo giocatori umani + eventuali liquidity bots di proprietà di Splinterlands
- Wild Format: solo giocatori umani + eventuali liquidity bots di proprietà di Splinterlands
- Bot Format: bots privati e giocatori umani + Wild Pass
I miei risultati parziali stagionali nel Wild Format sono peggiori rispetto alla stagione precedente.
In questa stagione ho provato nuovamente ad apportare modifiche alla mia strategia relativa al noleggio delle carte ma evidentemente è stata una scelta peggiorativa e non migliorativa.

In tre stagioni di utilizzo di XBOT nel Wild Format la mia collezione di carte Beta e Untamed del valore di 654$ + una delega di 50K SPS non è stata sufficiente per coprire i costi stagionali.
Concludo questo post:
- mostrando i grafici dei valori dei token DEC, SPS, VOUCHER e HIVE in un intervallo di 60 giorni
- condividendo la mia ultima battaglia giocata nel Modern Format.
Un aspetto interessante da notare è che il rapporto SPS/DEC è molto vicino al minimo registrato in un intervallo di tempo di 1 anno.
Dopo più di 5 anni dalla mia prima battaglia su Splinterlands mi diverto a giocare regolarmente ogni giorno e nella prossima immagine puoi vedere la mia ultima battaglia giocata nel Modern Format che è l'unico formato in cui, secondo me, batte il cuore (il divertente gameplay) di Splinterlands e in cui i giocatori umani come me si divertono!
Quando la ruleset è Explosive Weaponery mi piace utilizzare una combinazione di carte costituita da:
- 1 tank con l'abilità Taunt in prima posizione
- 1 carta con l'abilità Martyr in seconda posizione
- 1 carta con l'abilità Reflection Shield in terza posizione
- 1 o più carte con l'abilità Resurrect per amplificare il potenziale dell'abilità Martyr
La mia strategia ha funzionato bene perchè ho vinto la battaglia al round 5

Interesting read about the both formats and update about upcoming cards version. I'm a new player in game and I've a question, how do you manage energy because you play battles on both formats?
Also is it allowed to use bots in game?
the current division of Ranked Play is:
I play with two accounts because on Splinterlands multiaccount is allowed and so I have two separate energy bars.
It is not allowed to use bots and battle helpers in the Modern Format and that is why it is the only format I like.
Thanks for clarifying. As you said bots are not allowed in modern so if someone use it in wild, it's fine with splinterlands team?

Nicely done on that battle, you use one of my favorite strategies. I love using dragon and kicking off with Agor, Vruz, then Ohur. Then adding the extra resurrect with Hellondale, nice!

Most of my lineup is also Chaos Legion. It's going to hurt me quite a bit when the new set gets released.
It's too bad that the wild format isn't working out for you. I guess there are either too many people doing it or the SPS rewards just aren't higher enough to cover the costs.
Like you, I have most of the Chaos Legion cards, and I will be very sorry when I cannot use them manually. The only good thing will be that with my Chaos legion cards using a bot will probably be profitable for me in the wild but I would have preferred to be able to use them in the wild but without a bot...

Congratulations, on the updateds. I think common cards have some underrated value. I didn't even know the Giant Alpine has stun ability at level 10. Such a good card.

Ho fatto una piccola ricerca da parte mia e ho letto un sacco di lamentele sul gioco e da quello che ho letto, è che il gioco non è più quello di una volta e che ormai non si riesce quasi più a vincere. a meno che non si faccia un grosso investimento. Per ora aspetterò ancora un po' e raccoglierò più alveari, ma mi piacerebbe che tu mi dessi qualche consiglio e mi dicessi dove è meglio investire all'interno dell'alveare. Grazie mille per tutto
Sui giochi la mia filosofia è incentrata sul divertimento nel senso che se un gioco mi diverte è sempre un buon investimento altrimenti no. Splinterlands richiede un investimento iniziale e soprattutto uno studio degli assets e delle dinamiche di gioco prima di investire perchè è un gioco che ha più di 6 anni di vita ma è ancora uno dei giochi più bello e divertente nel panorama blockchain anche se ha aspetti da migliorare.
Se ti piacciono i giochi dovresti scegliere quello che ti diverte di più e investire sempre solo quello che puoi permetterti di perdere ;)
Per quanto riguarda l'ecosistema di Hive il mio focus principale è stato sempre sugli HP perchè sono un autore attivo e interagisco molto su Hive.
Se ti piace scrivere su Hive il mio consiglio è di puntare principalmente sull'aumento dell'Hive Power altrimenti non crescerai o crescerai molto lentamente su Hive ;)
Super Liberty!! Il cambio SPS/DEC come hai detto è vicino ai minimi storici, una settimana fa l’ho visto nel punto più basso. Sia il DEC che l’SPS oggi sono a buon mercato per chi vuole accumulare. Domanda (sai che se non rispondi eventualmente te la rifaró, quindi non devi rispondere per forza): Io sto pensando di acquistare delle LAND, hai dei consigli veloci da darmi? Unico parametro da controllare è il prezzo?
Le land sono un incognita perchè molto dipenderà dagli sviluppi e dalle implementazioni future... certo costano molto meno rispetto a tempo fa ma sinceramente non mi sento di consigliarti o sconsigliarti l'acquisto anche perchè nonostante ho tre land plot non sono molto aggiornato sugli sviluppi di questo aspetto...
Grazie comunque della risposta. Ho notato anch’io che su tale aspetto, intendo quello delle LAND non ci sono stati molti aggiornamenti e lo sviluppo delle stesse è stato poco veloce anche in passato. Come idea peró, secondo me, non è male. Vedremo cosa succederà. Magari per imparare qualcosa di più sulle LAND posso provare a farci qualche post sopra e magari qualche commento o risposta di un Hiveano mi chiarirà le idee !LUV
