There are many new changes coming to the Splinterlands game.
With the start of the new season in less than two days, the subdivision of ranked battles into two formats will be introduced: Modern Format and Wild Format.
I explained and explored the effects of this split in my previous post and in the following image you can see a diagram I created to graphically summarize what this split will bring within the game dynamics.

Other new changes will be introduced starting July 18 will be such as:

• the addition of new daily focuses based on card abilities (Sneak, Opportunity, ...)
• changes to the daily focus mechanism:
  • it will be possible to earn focus points with all cards even those that do not meet the daily focus, but in this case the focus points will be lower than when using cards relevant to the focus.
  • point thresholds for obtaining a chest will be increased to compensate for the new bonuses introduced by the new mechanism.

Other future changes will affect the content of chests, DEC tokens, and the rental mechanism which will be set initially at a minimum of 2 days per card rented.

There will be time to write and delve into the upcoming and future changes but today I want to dedicate my post to the latest legendary summoner introduced in the Splinterlands game: Grandmaster Rathe.

Grandmaster Rathe

Granmaster Rathe is a legendary summoner of the Chaos Legion edition who belongs to the Life element.
Granmaster Rathe has 3 Buffs (ability to increase the battle statistics and abilities of monster cards he summons):

• adds an armor point to all cards summoned by him
• confers the Void Armor ability to all cards summoned by him
• confers the Amplify ability to all cards summoned by him

Specifically, the first two Buffs (+1 Armor Point and Void Armor) apply to all cards while the Amplify ability even if it is acquired by all cards he summons only affects cards that have one of the following abilities:

• Thorns
• Return Fire
• Magic Reflect

The special characteristic of Grandmaster Rathe is that it is able to limit the magic attack power of enemy cards, an attack that becomes equal to a Melee or Ranged attack as long as the attacked card has at least 1 armor point.

In fact, a magic attack subtracts the life points of the attacked card even if the card has armor points.

There are only two cases where a magic attack first hits armor points and then life points:

• the combat rule is Weak Magic.

• the attached card has armor points and has the Void Armor ability.

Grandmaster Rathe and Modern Format

All cards summoned by Grandmaster Rathe get an additional armor point and the void armor ability as a benefit, but the ideal cards to use are those that already have a good number of starting armor points.

For example, the cards Chaos Knight, Uriel The Purifier and ShieldBearer which are all three very good cards to deploy in the first position become much harder to eliminate when used with Grandmaster Rathe because they lose their weakness against magical attacks.

In particular Shieldbearer of level 8 becomes a very difficult card to eliminate especially when used in combination with other cards that have the abilities:

• Resurrect
• Repair
• Protect

In the following image you can see one of the many card combinations that I think becomes especially strong to use in battle and especially when the opponent uses cards with magic attack.

The battle formation I indicated above would play very well on average in many battles because it is a very solid formation and hard to eliminate.
In fact ShieldBearer in the first position would attract all the opponent's attacks because of the Taunt ability.
Cards with magic attack would hit ShieldBearer's armor points first, which, however, are regenerated each game turn by **Adelaide Brightwing's Repair ability.
Cards with melee attack would deal half damage because Shieldbeaber has the Shield ability.
Cards with ranged attack would receive a return attack from Shieldbearer because of the Return Fire ability that is enhanced by the Amplify ability bestowed by Grandmaster Rathe.

The dual ability Resurrect (High Priest Darius and Adelaide Brightwing) will resurrect ShieldBearer twice who will return to life each time with only 1 life point but with 7 armor points.

In addition Venari Crystalsmith will restore Shieldbearer's life points each round while Evangelist will increase the melee attack of the two cards in the first positions.

The battle formation I showed above is very strong in battle, consists of all top-level cards and can be used in Diamond and Champion leagues but also has a pretty high cost: about $1350

The most expensive card is just Shieldbearer of level 8 which has a cost of 799$.

Of course, there are much cheaper combinations that still play very well in battle.

For example, a cheaper combination is the one you can see in the image below that has a total cost of about 390$.

Grandmaster Rathe's Airdrop

A few days ago 9 million Chaso Legion packs were sold and there was the ninth Airdrop attended by all players who purchased Chaos Legion packs from the Shop section of the Splinterlands website.

The protagonist of the airdrop was indeed the legendary summoner Grandmaster Rathe.
The probability of receiving a Grandmaster Rathe summoner were:

• Standard Card: 0.1818% per Chaos Legion pack.
• Gold Foil Card: 0.00727% per Chaos Legion pack.

However, there was a guarantee to receive 1 Grandmaster Rathe for every 550 Chaos Legion packs purchased.

I with 707 Chaos Legion packs purchased was guaranteed to receive at least 1 card.

Yesterday when I pressed the Claim button I was overjoyed because luck literally "kissed" me and you can easily understand why by looking at the following screenshot :)

Utility in Battle and Considerations

I immediately wanted to test Grandmaster Rathe Gold Foil in battle.

I like to test at a disadvantage, so I used level 2 Grandmaster Rathe in the Diamond league and intentionally gave no weight to the battle rules.
Even in battles where the battle rules were not particularly favorable I got good results as in the battle you can see in the image below.

My opponent had mid-level cards higher than my cards and had rightly used Twilight Basilisk with the Stun ability to take advantage of the Knock Out ability conferred by the Heavy Hitters combat rule.

At the beginning of Second Round my level 1 Shieldbearer was elminated for the first time but was immediately revived by Adelaide Brightwind.

Before the end of the second round my Shieldbearer dies for the second time but High Priest Darius intervenes and resurrects him for the second time.

In Round 3 the Noxious Fumes battle rule takes its first victims:

• I lose Celestial Harpy
• my opponent loses Djinm Chwala, Twilight Basilisk and Venari Bonesmith

My Shieldbearer resists until Round 9 when both my opponent and I are left with only one card in play.

Harklan (level 3) VS Uriel The Purifier (level 2)

Harklan has the advantage of having the Immune ability and does not suffer the negative effects of the Noxious Fumes combat rule.
My Uriel The Purifier has the advantage of having the Heal ability that negates the negative effects of Noxious Fumes and can attack once every two turns with an attack strength tripled but halved by Harkaln's Shield ability.

The decisive attack is made by Uriel the Purifier during Round 18 and I get the final victory.

Would I have won the battle without using Grandmaster Rathe?

Absolutely not!

In my test I played more than 15 battles with level 2 Grandmaster Rathe in the Diamond II league and lost about half of the battles but in conditions where I was often starting at a disadvantage and in a league where you can use monster cards and summoner cards of the highest level.

There are indeed many cards that become stronger in battle when summoned by Grandmaster Rathe that I have not highlighted in this post such as Pecalor Conjurer, Onyx Sentinel, Almo Cambio, Cornealus, ...

For example, Cornealus of level 4 is the only card that can be summoned by Grandmaster Rathe that has all three abilities that the Amplify ability can enhance.

Grandmaster Rathe is a summoner that I really like and I decided to upgrade to the highest level: level four.

I still have to decide whether to sell the Grandmaster Rathe Gold Foil card or allocate it for rental.
In order to have Grandmaster Rathe level 4 I need to purchase 7 more level 1 cards but I will proceed in steps and take Grandmaster Rathe to level 3 first.
To reach my purchase goal, I chose to make a purchase offer using the Make BID feature of the Peakmonsters site (https://peakmonsters.com/market).

Ci sono tante novità in arrivo nel gioco di Splinterlands.
Con l'inizio della nuova stagione, tra meno di due giorni, sarà introdotta la suddivisione delle battaglie classificate in due formati: Modern Format e Wild Format.
Ho spiegato e approfondito gli effetti di questa suddivisione nel mio precedente post e nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere uno schema che ho creato per sintetizzare graficamente quello che tale suddivisione porterà all'interno delle dinamiche di gioco.

Altre novità saranno introdotte a partire dal 18 luglio saranno come:

• l'aggiunta di nuovi focus giornalieri basati sulle abilità delle carte (Sneak, Opportunity, ...)
• modifiche al meccanismo dei focus giornalieri:
  • sarà possibile guadagnare punti focus con tutte le carte anche quelle che non rispettano il focus giornaliero ma in questo caso i punti focus saranno minori rispetto all'utilizzo di carte attinenti al focus.
  • saranno aumentate le soglie di punti per ottenere un forziere per compensare i nuovi bonus introdotti dal nuovo meccanismo.

Altre modifiche future riguarderanno il contenuto dei forzieri, i token DEC e il meccanismo di noleggio che sarà impostato inizialmente ad un minimo di 2 giorni per ogni carte noleggiata.

Ci sarà tempo per scrivere e per approfondire sulle prossime e future modifiche ma oggi voglio dedicare il mio post all'ultimo evocatore leggendario introdotto nel gioco di Splinterlands: Grandmaster Rathe.

Grandmaster Rathe

Granmaster Rathe è un evocatore leggendario dell'edizione Chaos Legion che appartiene all'elemento Vita.
Granmaster Rathe ha 3 Buffs (capacità di aumentare le statistiche di battaglia e le abilità delle carte mostro da lui evocate):

• aggiunge un punto armatura a tutte le carte da lui evocate
• conferisce l'abilità Void Armor a tutte le carte da lui evocate
• conferisce l'abilità Amplify a tutte le carte da lui evocate

In particolare i primi due Buffs (+1 Armor Point e Void Armor) si applicano a tutte le carte mentre l'abilità Amplify anche se viene acquisita da tutte le carte da lui evocate ha effetto solo sulle carte che hanno una delle seguenti abilità:

• Thorns
• Return Fire
• Magic Reflect

La particolarità di Grandmaster Rathe è che è in grado di limitare il potere dell'attacco magico delle carte nemiche, attacco che diventa uguale ad un attacco Melee o Ranged fin quando la carta attaccata ha almeno 1 punto armatura.

Infatti un attacco magico sottrae i punti vita della carta colpita anche se la carta ha punti armatura.

Ci sono solo due casi in cui un attacco magico colpisce prima i punti armatura e poi i punti vita:

• la regola di combattimento è Weak Magic

• la carta attaccata ha punti armatura e ha l'abilità Void Armor

Grandmaster Rathe e Modern Format

Tutte le carte evocate da Grandmaster Rathe ottengono come beneficio un punto armatura aggiuntivo e l'abilità void armor ma le carte ideali da utilizzare sono quelle che hanno già un buon numero di punti armatura di partenza.

Ad esempio le carte Chaos Knight, Uriel The Purifier e ShieldBearer che sono tutte e tre ottime carte da schierare in prima posizione diventano molto più difficili da eliminare se utilizzate con Grandmaster Rathe perchè perdono la loro debolezza contro gli attacchi magici.

In particolare Shieldbearer di livello 8 diventa una carta molto difficile da eliminare soprattutto se utilizzata in combinazione con altre carte dell'elemento life che hanno le abilità:

• Resurrect
• Repair
• Protect

Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere una delle tante combinazioni di carte che secondo me diventa particolarmente forte da utilizzare in battaglia e soprattutto quando l'avversario utilizza carte con attacco magico.

La formazione di battaglia che ho indicato sopra giocherebbe mediamente molto bene in molte battaglie perchè è una formazione molto solida e dura da eliminare.
Infatti ShieldBearer in prima posizione attirerebbe tutti gli attacchi avversari grazie all'abilità Taunt.
Le carte con attacco magico colpirebbero prima i punti armatura di ShieldBearer che però sono rigenerati ad ogni turno di gioco dall'abilità Repair di Adelaide Brightwing.
Le carte con attacco da mischia infliggerebbero metà danno perchè Shieldbeaber ha l'abilità Shield.
Le carte con attacco dalla distanza riceverebbero un attacco di ritorno da Shieldbearer grazie all'abilità Return Fire che è potenziata dall'abilità Amplify conferita da Grandmaster Rathe.

La doppia abilità Resurrect (High Priest Darius e Adelaide Brightwing) farà risorgere due volte ShieldBearer che ritornerà ogni volta in vita con 1 solo punto vita ma con 7 punti armatura.

Inoltre Venari Crystalsmith ripristinerà i punti vita di Shieldbearer ad ogni round di gioco mentre Evangelist aumenterà l'attacco da mischia delle due carte in prima posizione.

La formazione di battaglia che ho mostrato sopra è molto forte in battaglia, è composta da tutte carte di massimo livello e può essere utilizzata nelle leghe Diamond e Champion ma ha anche un costo abbastanza alto: circa 1350$

La carta più costosa è proprio Shieldbearer di livello 8 che ha un costo di 799$.

Ovviamente ci sono combinazioni molto più economiche che giocano comunque molto bene in battaglia.

Ad esempio una combinazione più economica è quella che puoi vedere nell'immagine seguente che ha un costo totale di circa 390$.

L'Airdrop di Grandmaster Rathe

Pochi giorni fa sono stati venduti 9 milioni di pacchi Chaso Legion e c'è stato il nono Airdrop a cui hanno partecipato tutti i giocatori che hanno acquistato i pacchi Chaos Legion dalla sezione Shop del sito di Splinterlands.

Il protagonista dell'airdrop è stato proprio l'evocatore leggendario Grandmaster Rathe.
La probabiltà di ricevere un evocatore Grandmaster Rathe erano di:

• Standard Card: 0.1818% per ogni pacco Chaos Legion
• Gold Foil Card: 0.00727% per ogni pacco Chaos Legion

C'era però la garanzia di ricevere 1 Grandmaster Rathe per ogni 550 pacchi Chaos Legion acquistati.

Io con 707 pacchi Chaos Legion acquistati avevo la garanzia di ricevere almeno 1 carta.

Ieri quando ho premuto il bottone Claim sono stato felicissimo perchè la fortuna mi ha letteralmente "baciato" e puoi capire facilmente il perchè guardando lo screenshot seguente :)

Ho voluto subito testare Grandmaster Rathe Gold Foil in battaglia.

Mi piace fare i test in condizioni di svantaggio e quindi ho utilizzato Grandmaster Rathe di livello 2 nella lega Diamond e non ho volutamente dato peso alle regole di battaglia.
Anche in battaglie in cui le regole di combattimento non erano particolarmente favorevoli ho ottenuto dei buoni risultati come nella battaglia che puoi vedere nell'immagine seguente.

Il mio avversario aveva carte di livello medio superiore alle mie carte e aveva giustamente utilizzato Twilight Basilisk con l'abilità Stun per sfruttare l'abilità Knock Out conferita dalla regola di combattimento Heavy Hitters.

All'inizio del secondo Round il mio Shieldbearer di livello 1 è stato elminato per la prima volta ma è subito invervenuta Adelaide Brightwind che lo ha resuscitato.

Prima della fine del secondo round il mio Shieldbearer muore per la seconda volta ma interviene High Priest Darius che lo resuscita per la seconda volta.

Nel Round 3 la regola di battaglia Noxious Fumes fa le sue prime vittime:

• io perdo Celestial Harpy
• il mio avversario perde Djinm Chwala, Twilight Basilisk e Venari Bonesmith

Il mio Shieldbearer resiste fino al Round 9 quando sia io che il mio avversario rimaniamo con una sola carta in gioco.

Harklan (level 3) VS Uriel The Purifier (level 2)

Harklan ha il vantaggio di avere l'abilità Immune e non subisce gli effetti negativi della regola di combattimento Noxious Fumes.
Il mio Uriel The Purifier ha il vantaggio di avere l'abilità Heal che annulla gli effetti negativi del Noxious Fumes e può attaccare una volta ogni due turni con una forza di attacco triplicata ma dimezzata dall'abilità Shield di Harkaln.

L'attacco decisivo lo fa Uriel the Purifier durante il Round 18 e la vittoria finale la ottengo io.

Avrei vinto la battaglia senza utilizzare Grandmaster Rathe?

Assolutamente no!

Nel mio test ho giocato più di 15 battaglie con Grandmaster Rathe di livello 2 nella lega Diamond II e ho perso circa la metà delle battaglie ma in condizioni in cui spesso partivo in svantaggio e in una lega dove si possono utilizzare carte mostro e carte evocatore di massimo livello.

Sono davvero tante le carte che diventano più forti in battaglia se evocate da Grandmaster Rathe e che non ho evidenziato in questo post come ad esempio Pecalor Conjurer, Onyx Sentinel, Almo Cambio, Cornealus, ...

Ad esempio Cornealus di livello 4 è l'unica carta evocabile da Grandmaster Rathe che ha tutte e tre le abilità che l'abilità Amplify è in grado di potenziare.

Grandmaster Rathe è un evocatore che mi piace molto e ho deciso di fare l'upgrade al massimo livello: il quarto livello.

Devo ancora decidere se vendere la carta Grandmaster Rathe Gold Foil o destinarla al noleggio.
Per avere Grandmaster Rathe di livello 4 devo acquistare altre 7 carte di livello 1 ma procederò per step e porterò prima Grandmaster Rathe al livello 3.
