Bitcoin Whitepaper birthday - 13 years ago
Bitcoin evolved from just lines on a piece of paper to a digital currency worth more than $1 trillion, and because of it there has been a new financial market and a financial revolution that touched many sectors.
13 years ago (2008) a research paper was published by “Satoshi Nakamoto” in which he paves the way for a cryptocurrency project called “Bitcoin”.
Here are 13 facts about this founding document of Bitcoin:
Many believe that Satoshi Nakamoto chose to publish the founding document of Bitcoin on Halloween, which falls on October 31 of each year, also known as Reformation Day. On that day, 504 years ago, monk Martin Luther hung his 95 Theses on the door Wittenberg Castle Church, challenging the dominance of the Catholic Church.
The Bitcoin white paper was published on an encrypted mailing list at 2:10 PM EST.
Satoshi wrote the entire code before revealing his white paper.
The Bitcoin white paper has been translated into 36 languages, including Arabic.
Bitcoin Cash supporter Roger Ver helped translate the white paper into Japanese while Bitmain co-founder Jihan Wu worked on translating it into Chinese.
The white paper does not mention the term “mining” or its derivatives at all. Rather, Satoshi referred to the process as “generation.”
Satoshi did not expect mining pools to appear in his white paper.
Jack Dorsey, founder and CEO of Twitter, described the Bitcoin white paper as the "core work" of computer science.
Adam Buck, co-founder of Blockstream, is one of the individuals mentioned in the white paper.
Self-proclaimed Craig Wright claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto and author of the white paper, but the Bitcoin community strongly disagrees with him. The whitepaper is cited 17,201 times.
“Accounts,” the longest part of the founding document of Bitcoin, contains 559 words.
Several governments and national companies have uploaded the Bitcoin white paper (white paper) on their websites.
