PATHWAYS 101 – POST 1/4: NF-κB
The Inflammation Master Switch That Never Turns Off After COVID

Imagine your body has a big red “INFLAMMATION” button in every single cell.

That button is called NF-κB (pronounced “N-F kappa B” or N-F K beta)

When it works normally:

  • u cut ur finger → NF-κB flips ON 4 a few hours → immune cells rush in → wound heals → button flips OFF .

After SARS-CoV-2 spike protein shows up:

  • The button gets JAMMED ON 24/7 in your lungs, brain, blood vessels, nerves, fat tissue… everywhere.
Result = chronic swelling, pain, fatigue, brain fog, autoimmunity, faster aging.

Where does NF-κB live?

  • Inside almost every cell of your body.
  • It’s normally “asleep” in the cytoplasm (the jelly part of the cell), handcuffed to a protein called IκB so it can’t cause trouble.

What wakes it up and breaks the handcuffs?

  1. Viruses & bacteria (normal)
  2. Stress, junk food, smoking (sometimes)
  3. SARS-CoV-2 spike protein ← THIS IS THE NEW ONE

How does spike do it?

  • Spike binds to TLR4 (and sometimes TLR2) on the cell surface → sends a signal inside → IκB gets shredded → NF-κB runs into the nucleus → turns on 300+ inflammatory genes (IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, etc.).
