Free "DeFi 101" Courses and NFTs from CoinGecko
frennnns! CoinGecko has been my all-time favorite website for checking crypto prices for quite some time. Ever since CoinMarketCap was bought. They have rewards points called Candies and this is another example of why you should claim them every day.
"DeFi 101" NFT Courses & NFT Badge
CoinGecko has given away a ton of free NFTs for candies redemption. Hell, they even gave away VIP tickets to GeckoCon that were being sold for $99. All you had to do was go to CoinGecko every day and click claim on your candies. Every day the amount you get increases for 7 days then resets. You can rack up quite a few pretty fast. Very similar to how CoinMarketCap's diamonds work. The lastest freebie you can redeem for just 600 Candies is a series of courses about DeFi with NFT badges along the way.
When you redeem the 600 candies, you're given a code that has to be sent in via a Google form. Once you fill out the Google form with your Ethereum wallet address, you'll need to wait 48 hours to claim your first NFT.
After 48 hours have passed, follow the steps below to redeem your Candies Collector NFT badge. This appears to also be a launch event for Project Galaxy. I plan on doing a separate post once I've done more research on exactly what Project Galaxy is.
In order to claim your NFT, you need to connect your Metamask wallet to the Polygon chain. If you have not added the Polygon chain to your Metamask wallet, visit Chainlist to add Polygon in one click. Or you can Google it and do it manually. pick your poison.
After than, head to the NFT claim page then click Claim. Because it's on Polygon and not Ethereum's mainnet, there is no gas fee. Just Claim and wait for the transaction to confirm.
After a few seconds, your NFT is minted.
You can now view your shiny new NFT in your My NFTs page.
Now you can start earning even more NFTs for free via Project Galaxy. The next one can be earned once you've claimed your Candies Collector NFT by completing a swap on a DeFi platform like UniSwap or Bancor.
I tried doing a swap on Polygon and it didn't work. Turns out this is only available if you do a swap on Ethereum's mainnet. Bummer. But if you've already used this wallet to do that in the past you'll be able to Claim it right away. You're now registered via your NFT to complete the courses listed and earn badges for those as well.
The badge NFTs you collect by completing each course is added to your Galaxy ID which is pretty dope.
Like I said, I do plan on doing a whole separate post that's a deep dive into Project Galaxy. This was just an overview so you can get to claiming some free NFTs courtesy of CoinGecko. I'm hoping they allow us to spend our Candies on tickets to the next GeckoCon too! So I'll say it again. Always claim your CoinGecko Candies.

Sorry, I thought I had linked it in the post. Go to your rewards after on CoinGecko. Click Use Now on the Candy Collector one you purchased with candies. It will give you a code and direct you from there.
