Used to be popular, not anymore
As a very intelligent person, popularity isn't my main focus in school but sometimes, I become popular for one reason or another and I can't control that popularity. I'm guessing it's the same with some of you, especially back in high school where you suddenly become popular overnight without much work and effort.
Most of the time, I became popular thanks to my intelligence but these days, that doesn't seem to be the case as the university is totally on another level when compared to high school 😆. But luckily for me, I had other qualities to flaunt in the university and I also become popular for it but first, let's talk about my high school days.
Popularity in high school
As I stated earlier, I'm a very intelligent person and that was what I was known for back in high school. I didn't start high school on the very first day other students did because I was waiting for the results of the entrance examinations I took for a boarding school. I wasn't on board with the decision to go to a boarding school but my mom was forcing me to go, so what did I do? I sabotaged the exam and didn't get up to the cut-off mark 😆.
Anyway, I got enrolled into a normal day school and unfortunately for me, the day I resumed was the day they were having a test. I took the test and surprisingly got the highest school in most of the subjects. The class teacher was very impressed and instantly made me the class prefect that day. So began my popularity back then. Every teacher knew me and liked me because of how well I do during exams.
I started representing the school in various quiz completions and helped to boost the reputation of my school after winning, even the principal of the school knew me very well. Aside from being an intelligent student, I was also very good at drawing. I did mostly cartoon drawings and I had several drawing books back then which I sold to people (yeah, that was how good I was 😉).
I was also very skilled at using mobile phones back then and I could solve any problem my classmates had with their devices. I remembered I was the only person that knew how to set up internet on a Java phone back then and how to download games on them. Seniors from other classes used to bring their phones to me so I could set up their internet and even download games for them
One other thing made me popular back then in high school and it's actually quite surprising because most people underestimate it; my mouth. I'm very funny and at the same time very rude. I enjoyed teasing people a lot back then and I also became well-known for it. Whenever you see a group of boys gathered and just making fun of each other, just know that I'm in the center of that setup. And that brings me to the university level
Popularity in the university
University was way out of my comfort zone and I came across a lot of intelligent people, some even more intelligent than me but when it comes to one aspect, I was still undefeated; badmouthing. I was a very lazy student during 100 level and nobody knew what I looked like but they all knew my name because I was the chief noise maker in my class whatsapp group.
I always cracked jokes and teased everyone from morning till night. My teasing got out of hand most of the time and can be termed rude (which I only realized a couple of years later 😆) and that earned me the nickname; "Kushy the Savage". I was basically a celebrity back then and it was because of that I got recruited into various campaign committees of students vying for various political positions all around the school.
Aside from always cracking jokes, I also have a very good mastery of English and can type very fast (still do 😉), that was the reason I was selected to join the editorial team of my faculty. Things became more intense when I was at 200 level and started attending lectures frequently. Random people will just come up to me and say "So you are the Kushy?", then they will go ahead and introduce themselves.
Although I was enjoying the attention I was getting from all that, it soon became a burden after some time because I could no longer enjoy my free time without being called for one meeting or the other. So, during the COVID-19 period which saw schools being on lockdown for several months, I started reducing the time I spent on my class whatsapp group and channeled that energy into digital skills like graphic design and programming. That brings me to the other thing I'm popular for; being tech-savvy.
I'm one of the few people in my class that's very tech savvy and the one that people usually meet when they are having issues with their devices (phone and laptop). Back when we did a compulsory computer science course, people were calling me on the day of the examination and requesting my assistance during the exam. Everyone I helped got at least a B in that course with most of them having an A. That was the first and last time anybody clamored to seat close to me in an examination 😆
Am I still active in them?
Well, I'm still very intelligent but that doesn't seem to be my key feature today. I'm still a very funny person and will always crack jokes but I don't do it as much as before and I no longer tease people as much as I did during my high school days and early years in the university. As for drawing, I haven't done that for years and I'm probably not good enough as I used to be in the past.
The one thing that has remained constant and has even grown over the years is my tech savviness. I'm still very good at computers and I'm popular for that even today. Whenever a lecturer's laptop is behaving abnormally in class (maybe not connecting well with the projector), the next thing I will hear is "Kushy please come and check what is wrong" 😆

I don't know what's pushing me to come from this angle;
Being both teachers and principal's candidate plus the fact that you know how to draw, all those girls flocked around you and you enjoyed yourself. I know🤧
I even forgot to add that; I was a proper ladies man 🤣 I really enjoyed the attention I got from the female students back then
Omo!
Na una enjoy sec school 🥳
I kept myself under the radar back in my school days as I don't want to be in the spotlight of gossip and others 🤣.
Being under the radar wasn't exactly an option for me, I still found myself above the radar no matter what 😆 thanks for stopping by Ate

Thanks for the pizza Ate 😁
Wow, that's nice. You are indeed popular for a number of good things but that teasing ehhhh is another thing entirely🤣
The teasing aspect was really something else, but at least I don't do it as often as before 😁 thanks for stopping by
