The epic movie I watched recently

Movies are a perfect way for some of us to chill and unwind after a long boring day and it has become so much easier to watch movies these days thanks to the advancement in technology, unlike in the past when we could only depend on our Television and DVD (or CD player) to watch movies. But now, you can watch movies with your phone anywhere, anytime and I kind of prefer watching on the phone because of the adaptability that comes with it (you can lie down in any position 😁).

I won't exactly call myself a big movie lover as that term is reserved for people who can watch movies for long periods (like 10 hours+). I am more of a gamer than a movie watcher but I do watch movies from time to time. My favorite genre is comedy (I mean, who doesn't love to laugh), closely followed by horror. Yes, I love horror movies a lot and these days, I seem to be watching a lot of it (probably because we just finished with October which is the month of Halloween).

On that note, it's not surprising that the movie I am going to be talking about today is a horror movie I watched a few days ago titled "The exorcist believer". I was scrolling through Nkiri website when I came across the movie and after watching the trailer, I immediately downloaded it because it falls within the type of horror I like: demon possession, something similar to The Nun and The Conjuring. Just look at the trailer, it's very disturbing

What is the movie about?

To keep it short, the movie is about 2 girls; Angela and Catherine who went into the forest to try and communicate with the spirit of Angela's mother who died during childbirth (that's how most of these movies usually start). Along the line, they went missing and after searching for 3 days, they were found with no memories of what happened. Their parents thought everything had gone back to normal but they were wrong.

Both girls didn't come back normal, they brought something with them, and within a few days, it started manifesting. Their parents thought it was mental illness because of what they experienced during those 3 days they went missing, so they took them to the hospital. One of the nurses who also happens to be Angela's neighbor, figured out that it was demon possession and told Angela's dad about a similar incident.

He didn't believe it at first but after watching a video of someone's exorcism and reading a book about the whole thing, he started to believe. That was how they agreed on an exorcism and brought together a shaman from Africa, a pastor, and a priest. But the priest backed out at the last moment because the catholic church didn't approve of the exorcism, so he gave the nurse (Angela's neighbor) the authority to do it in his place.

The exorcism lasted for about 30 minutes and it was a very chilly and suspense-filled moment. The two girls basically looked and behaved like demons, I think demonic dogs is the appropriate term to use in this case. Even though their hands and feet were chained, it still didn't stop them from toying with the people in the room and displaying all sorts of horrifying actions. I know not many people like horror movies but for those that do and will like to watch this, this is probably a good place to stop reading because;

Spoiler alert!

At one point during the exorcism, things were getting out of hand and everyone in the room was already giving up, then the priest from earlier entered the room and the morale increased. Even I was excited and thought the whole thing was definitely going to end but I was wrong. The priest entered and started praying and both girls reacted strongly to his prayers. It looked like it was working and the demon would leave very soon but the tables turned suddenly.

What happened next was very horrifying. The demon started speaking its language and the priest's head started turning slowly and it continued that way till it completely turned 360 degrees, facing the back. I could hear his neck bone snap when that was happening and even saw the bone almost coming out from his skin. At that point I just said; "what the f"ck!". No matter how many times I watched that part, I am still horrified by the whole thing.

Conclusion

One thing I love about this movie is how it ended with a twist. At no point did I know what would happen next and that's one thing I like in a movie. This is different from other horror movies I watched earlier like The Nun 2 and Sinister where I could already predict what would happen in the end but as for this exorcist believer, I didn't see the end coming. Who would have thought that a demon would make a deal and actually honor it? But it did it with a surprising twist! Well, let me not spoil it further for people who will like to see the movie
