Some things I achieved this year
Achievements of today are the stepping stones for the future ones. ~ Invajy
This year has been a rollercoaster of experiences from the good ones to the bad ones and I'm just glad to see it coming to an end. I had a lot of goals when this year started, although some of them weren't really crucial but I'm glad that I was able to achieve some others, especially the important ones. What are they?
Being alive
Yes, being alive is certainly an achievement to me because a lot of people who started this year didn't live to see the end of it. Some people died when the year started and some even died today but I'm still alive to keep chasing my dreams and aspirations.
This is the reason why I'm not going to downplay being alive, it's a noteworthy achievement and even if it's not by my power, I'm still lucky to be alive and I will always give thanks to God for that achievement and also for keeping me in good health.
A new laptop
This is definitely the best thing that happened to me this year. I came up with a goal of buying a new laptop last year but somewhere along the line, I changed that goal to a new phone which was more important at that point and I successfully bought a new phone last year in October.
Since then, I totally neglected my goal of buying a laptop until this year April during the nationwide university strike in my country. I brought back the goal of buying a laptop after I resumed programming and saw the need of getting a new laptop because the one I was using had lots of issues.
I wasn't active on hive because I was busy on another laptop but after trying to save up for over 3 months and failing to meet up with the amount due to the crazy situation of the crypto market. I came back to hive and successfully had enough money to buy a new laptop, mostly thanks to my hive earnings. It took just one month of me being active on hive before I could hit my target, I was ecstatic!
The laptop has made my life a lot easier and it has even made it possible for me to make some money with it. This is why I started this article with that quote by Invajy: the achievement of buying a laptop has become a stepping stone for a lot more achievement, which is mostly money-related.
Eating healthier
This is another achievement that might look little to a lot of people but for me, it's big. Last year, I took a lot of junk foods and soft drinks and it even continued to this year but at one point in February, I was reading about Cristiana Ronaldo's lifestyle and how he doesn't take soft drinks, so I decided to start eating healthier.
I haven't totally stopped taking soft drinks but I have reduced the frequency so much to the extent that I take one in probably 2 months. The last time I had a bottle of coke or Pepsi was 2 months ago at a friend's birthday party. That's a lot better than last year when I take soft drinks every week.
These days, I now take a lot of fruits; bananas, oranges, and pineapples are my favorites. I'm happy to see that I was able to conquer my love for soft drinks which I can say at this point was actually an addiction. That's what sugar and caffeine can do to you after a while; they get you addicted.
Conclusion
There are still a couple of achievements that I didn't talk about but I think I will just end things here because I don't want this article to become too long. This year was very challenging but if there's one thing I have realized about challenges is that they help us become a better person when we eventually conquer them. I look forward to more achievements in the incoming year

Omo... Being alive is indeed a blessing. One we usually don't acknowledge. We know how things are, life is fleeting and anything at all can happen any second. So we have to always be thankful that we draw breath.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Many people usually fail to acknowledge the fact that being alive is no small feet, it's indeed a blessing. Thanks for stopping by
