A superpower I wish to have

Having superpowers is one thing I believe we have all thought about at one point in our lives or the other. Whenever I watch a movie with very interesting superpowers, I always imagine myself as having such powers and what I would do with them. When I was a child, I watched a lot of superhero movies such as the Justice League, the Avengers, Ben 10, etc. Superman's powers for me were far-fetched but you see the likes of Spiderman? I always thought that I could become him if a spider bit me…and then I started playing with spiders 😅

Right now, there are a couple of superpowers I would love to have. I can imagine myself being a shapeshifter; having the power to become anybody (and even animals) in the world and impersonating them (just like Mystique in X-Men). There's also super speed; the power to just run in and out of a place with nobody knowing I was ever there and the one person that comes to mind having this power is the Flash. There's also teleportation; instantly appear anywhere in the world. But after thinking about it for a while, there's actually one superpower I rate above the others and I would definitely love to have

Psionic power

I bet many people haven't heard about this before but when I explain it, you will realize you have been seeing it all this while in movies and animations but not knowing it's a superpower on its own. But before I go describing it, let me give you some heroes that have this power; Jean Grey from X-Men, and many of you will know the next person; Eleven from Stranger Things. I believe you already have an idea of what psionic power is.

Psionic power is simply just mental energy manipulation, which means the ability to manipulate mental energy for various things such as mind reading, emotional manipulation, mind control, telekinesis, illusion creation, precognition, and other mental capabilities. In fact, as long as it comes to anything mental, a psionic user can manipulate it. It's basically a combination of telepathy, telekinesis and empathy. But the thing is that some psions (psionic users) are limited by their own mental energy, that's why it appears that Jean Grey is a much more powerful psion than Eleven.

Why this power?

Why not? Just think about the things I could do with it. I could fly by using telekinesis to lift myself off the ground and I could even lift other people to take flight with me. I could read and control minds, communicating with other people using my mind only. Imagine how useful this ability will be during exams 😅. I can also sense the emotions of others (empathy) which will help me become a better friend. Empathy can also help me manipulate the emotions of others by making them feel better when they are sad or distressed.

I love mental powers a lot and my first thought when I saw this prompt was to pick telekinesis or mind control, but then I remembered I can just have both of them as well as other mental abilities if I choose to become a psion. Having that range of mental abilities can be very useful in a lot of situations. Now comes the big question; how will I make good use of this power?

I can think of a lot of ways this power can help the world become a better place. For example, I can prevent wars before they even happen by helping to resolve conflicts before they escalate. With my telepathic and empathic abilities, I can read the minds of both parties in a conflict and come up with a better resolution that will. I can also help security forces fight crime by subduing criminals with no force required using mind control.

I can even help to reform criminals by altering their minds but I guess that's taking things too far, I can't totally eradicate evil from the world. In times of emergencies such as accidents and natural disasters, my telekinetic powers can be very useful. I can rescue people from burning buildings, lift vehicles from victims during road accidents, help locate people trapped in collapsed buildings after an earthquake and even lift stones and other objects out of the way to rescue those people.

I can even help my fellow citizens to figure out a Presidential candidate with good intentions during an election but I guess that will backfire if the person later on becomes evil 😅. But the more I think about it, the more I can come up with different good uses for this superpower. Anyway, I can only wish and imagine myself having such powers because it's never going to happen. But deep down, a part of me wishes I could just wake up tomorrow with Psionic power.
