Twisting Talisman is playable now?
This is a finishing clip from a game where I was able to use Twisting Talisman in a way I hadn't planned on: my own creatures Deception has a lot of ways to boost strength, but then those characters get cleared quickly. TT lets you turn any creature into a switch duelist for a turn.
Here's how the armor lurked wound up here (wish I had recorded the whole game):
- Buffed with two Selfless Guidmates and attacked face.
- Became a 9/1 with 1 armor.
- Used god power to hide him.
- Next turn, went face again.
- He became 9/1 with 0 armor.
- I used twisting talisman to make him 1/9 and then hid him again.
- Then the finishing turn is in the video.
I started thinking about Twisting Talisman because of all the new strength steal cards. I was (and still am) running Munosian Infiltrator because you can instantly kill any creature that you've lowered to 0 strength. The downside of Munosian is that it's only creatures 3 mana or less.
Twisting Talisman doesn't have this restriction, so I gave it a try. It is effective at creature removal when combo'd with all the new strength steal Deception has. Deception isn't known for relics, so an opponent (not deck peaking) would likely mulligan away removal. At only 2 mana, it's not hard to get equipped while maintaining some tempo.
It wasn't until this game, where I was looking at a 9/1 armor lurker about to get killed that I thought to check to see if the relic works on your own creatures.
Conclusion
Is this meta? I don't know. Maybe not. BUT, this is what I love about TCGs: discovering something new. To my knowledge, no one has put this together yet, and even if so, it's still rewarding to have discovered it own your own. I'm still refining my deck, but I'll probably post it in the next week or so. Just wanted to share this for now.

Nice combo! Looks pretty legit 👀
I think using it on your own dudes is gonna be a rare occurrence; if you're playing against Light or Deception, they could easily steal it (< 3 str) or reduce it to 0 str, or they can even just play Munosian. But with the str steal that Deception got, it could interesting. Could even slot in Dionysian Drunk in str steal decks
I agree. The main reason for including it is other creatures, but the option for your own creatures is great. Also, when using it on your own creature, most of the time it's going to be:
This means no light's levy. Also, strength steal deception likely reduces something else that has more strength. Although you're right, you wouldn't risk it if it's the only thing on the board (or would still be the strongest creature).
The drunk is a great idea, actually. Thanks! I might swap out Munosian for him. One extra mana, but not having a restriction on who you can swap is big.
Impressive. Especially because there can be many cases for such use.
Let's say Whisper Baron can be buffed well with MJ low-mana Guild creatures. You can hit, then hide it with god power twice, and after that it will have health 1 only. Twisting Talisman can make Baron beefy. Meanwhile, it will keep getting buffed by summoned Guild creatures...
Or Merrick - it changes strength but not health. So after Merrick got big power and hit, you can use Twisting Talisman to make that strength become health... After that, Merrick will be something much more powerful ...
