"Amida Lottery NFT GIF Art"

I made cut paper art, digitally coloured it, and created an NFT called
Amida Lottery. It took a few months to complete. Cutting the paper art wasn't so difficult but the colouring part took quite a long time.

Amida Lottery is also called Ghost Leg. In Japanese, people call it "Amida Kuji(阿弥陀籤)." This is a traditional kids' or even adults' play when they decide something equally. People drew lines resembling Amida's halo on the paper or on the ground. Also, some people say the paper was folded into a fan shape resembling Amida's halo. Nowadays, people make ladder shapes instead of Amida halo shapes.

I designed original Amida halo shapes in a pink sky. There are the moon, kokeshi doll, goldfish, Mt. Fuji, shrine gate, dumplings, daruma doll, Japanese maple leaves, and flower-looking Japanese sweets in the pink sky. A lady who is in a kimono is playing the Amida lottery by herself. I wonder what she will get. Probably, she wants to eat some sweets. She is ready to work soon because she is dressed up, her hair done, with her special Oiran (high ranking courtesan) make-up on her face and her back. Her room with a round window is floating in space because she doesn't want to work every day so hard from morning till midnight. She probably wants to escape from her tough life. I hope that she will win the lottery and escape from her tough life someday soon!

"阿弥陀籤　NFT GIF アート”

切り絵を作成し、デジタルで色づけし、NFT GIFアートを作りました。タイトルはAmida Lotteryと名づけました。完成するまでに数ヶ月かかりました。切り絵よりも色付けの方が時間がかかりました。

阿弥陀籤は日本ではお馴染みの子供から大人までが公平に何かを決めるときによく使うくじです。真ん中から外側に向かって放射線状に線を引いた様子が阿弥陀如来の後光に似ていたことから阿弥陀籤と呼ばれるようになったそうです。扇子状に折り曲げた紙が阿弥陀如来の後光に見えたことからという説もあるようです。現在でははしご状に線をひいて阿弥陀籤を作ることが多いですね。

切り絵のデザインにはこのオリジナルの由来となった阿弥陀如来の後光の方の阿弥陀籤をイメージしました。阿弥陀籤の当たりくじである月、こけし、金魚、富士山、鳥居、団子、だるま、紅葉、それから花の形をした砂糖菓子がピンク色した空に浮かんでいます。着物を着た花魁がこの阿弥陀籤でひとり遊んでいます。何が当たるのでしょうか？多分、砂糖菓子が食べたいのではないでしょうか。独特の化粧を顔と背中に終え、髪の毛も結い、仕事の支度を整えた花魁。朝から夜遅くまで働き詰めでくたくたで働きたくない気持ちが表れ、丸い形の窓がある彼女の部屋は宇宙に浮かんでいます。ここの生活から逃げ出したいなと思っています。何かいいくじが当たってこんな生活とはおさらばできればいいですね！

これは違う色合いバージョン。彼女が阿弥陀籤の紐を引っ張ると月が輝きます。何かいいものが当たったようです！

Here is the step-by-step colouring of the cut paper art. I didn't want to lose the cut-paper art curvy lines so, it took quite a long time to finish colouring by sight.

これは切り絵に色をつけていくところです。切り絵の独特な曲がりくねった線を消してしまいたくはないので、色を塗るのは見た目よりも結構な時間がかかります。
