Change is Coming: The Ultimate Chase for Black Foil and Gold Foils

Every now and then, Splinterlands drops something that completely changes how players look at rewards, rarity, and competition and the new Conclave Arcana Reward System is one of those moments. For years, players have opened chests, pulled Gold Foils by luck increased by staked SPS in hopes of building the perfect collection.
However, now, a new chapter begins with Black Foils and the Fortune Draw, a system that mixes skill, luck, and dedication like never before. While it's still about grinding ranked battles, it’s also about joining a weekly event that could grant you the most exclusive cards in the game’s history.
Whether you’re a new player, a veteran battler or a seasoned collector, this new system adds a new layer of excitement to your weekly Splinterlands routine.

Let's Start The Chase
Let’s start with what makes this update so special. This is the introduction of Black Foil and Arcane Variant cards from the Conclave Arcana set to be added as a reward. These are not just your usual rare drops; they’re ultra-rare collectibles that can’t be found in chests, Glint shops, or regular draws. They’re pre-minted, meaning each one already exists in limited numbers, and only the luckiest players will ever get their hands on them. This is an overall remake of the Splinterlands Battle Reward system.
What makes them even more exciting is how they’ll be distributed. Instead of random chest rewards or pack openings like the usual, they’re tied to the brand-new Weekly Fortune Draw, a special event that gives out new cards every single week for a full year. There's weeks of non-stop prizes starting now. Each draw features a mix of Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, and Black Foil Arcane cards, all of which are extremely limited, rare and expensive. In other words, this is the ultimate chase for collectors and competitive players alike. Owning a Black Foil Arcane isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about prestige, dedication, and being part of a moment that will define the game’s evolving reward system. It's also the higher than normal extra rewards per win.

How to Participate in the Weekly Fortune Draw
Now that you know what’s at stake, here’s how to join the fun. Participation starts with the Fortune Draw Pass, which can be purchased for 125 DEC per week by any Spellbook holder. The pass grants entry into the weekly draw, and you can even pre-purchase multiple weeks in advance for up to 53 weeks, if you’re feeling extra lucky. Just remember to grab your pass before the draw begins or your entries won’t count for that week.
Once you’ve secured your pass, it’s time to earn entries, and that’s where gameplay comes in. I suggest the Modern Ranked Format as the main way to earn entries so you can also maximize the rewards when you win. For every 5 wins, you earn a batch of entries, and you can do this up to 3 times per day. This is similar to Frontier Mode's daily rewards. This means active players who consistently win matches have a much higher chance of landing a spot in the draw.
However, ranked battles aren’t the only way. Players can also find Fortune Draw entries inside Loot Chests or purchase them in the Glint Shop for 2,000 Glint each. This gives both competitive and casual players multiple ways to participate, even if they can’t grind battles daily.
There’s also a very important factor to keep in mind, your staked SPS. The number of entries you earn from ranked wins depends on both your league and your total staked SPS (including delegated SPS). Your league determines the base number of entries you can earn per batch, while your staked SPS sets a cap on that number. You’ll receive whichever number is lower between the two.
For example, if you’re in Gold League, your base reward might be 12 entries, but if you only have 100,000 SPS staked, your cap is 8 entries. To unlock the full reward, you’d need to stake 250,000 SPS or more. It’s also worth noting that players with less than 2,500 staked SPS won’t earn any entries from ranked wins, so having at least that amount is essential to participate effectively.
To make things easier, the game UI includes a notification system that tells you if you’re hitting your SPS cap, so you can decide whether to stake more and maximize your entries.

Important Other Caveats
Like all special events, there are a few rules to keep things fair and balanced. In my understanding, each account can win only one prize per weekly Fortune Draw, no matter how many entries they’ve accumulated. This ensures that rewards are spread among a wide range of players instead of being monopolized by a few lucky ones.
Additionally, you can complete a maximum of 3 batches in Modern and 3 batches in Wild each day. So, you can get up 6 batches per day by playing on both modes. This keeps the system competitive without letting any single player flood the draw with unlimited entries. It’s a balanced way to reward both time investment and strategy.
Another key detail is that entries expire at the end of each week, whether or not they’re used in the draw. This means every week is a fresh start. Even if you had hundreds of entries in one draw, you’ll need to earn new ones for the next. It keeps the system balanced and rewards consistent participation rather than just early grinding.
All these small details add up to make the new Fortune Draw. I think that this is one of the most exciting and fair reward systems Splinterlands has introduced. Between the allure of ultra-rare Foiled cards and the structured way to earn your shot, this system has the potential to increase how players engage with ranked battles. It encourages consistency and adds that extra thrill of maybe, just maybe, being one of the few to own a unique, limited black foil cards.
