One of my Gold Matches from a few weeks back which gives you an idea on how to effectively use Fire & Regret's Return Fire abilities without relying on RNG or chance. With this rule of combat, your Martyr monsters has a sure shot of dying allowing you to activate Martyr ability at earlier stages. In addition to that, since you are not relying on your opponent, you can freely place them in between the two monsters you want to carry the game.

They are really strong monsters for these kinds of rule of combat.

Thaddeus Brood is a rare summoner from the Chaos Legion. You need at least a level 1 from Bronze, a level 4 for Silver, a level 6 for Gold, and level 8 for any higher than that to maximize your team and allow you to unleash the max possible levels of your monsters.

_Abilities

-1 Health. Reduce all opponent's max health by 1 with a minimum of 1. It is the same as Weaken ability.

-1 Magic. Reduces all opponent's magic damage by 1 for a minimum of 1. It is the same as Silence ability.

Do not be fooled by Venari Marksrat's low stats and damage because he is more useful dead than alive. The Martyr ability is a game changer and allows you to increase the carry potential of your other monsters.

_Abilities

At level 1, Martyr is unlocked. When monsters with Martyr abilities die, the monsters next to it will gain 1 extra damage (regardless of damage type), 1 extra speed, and 1 extra max health.

At level 5, Snare is unlocked. A monster with Snare ability removes any Flying ability of an opponent monster it hit.

At level 8, Shatter is unlocked. Shatter is a good ability if you don't use a lot of magic damage. This destroys all of the opponent's armor regardless of the damage.

Rules of Combat

24 Mana Cap. Total mana cost of all monsters must not exceed 24 mana.

Fire amd Regret Rules of Combat. All monsters gain Return Fire ability that inflicts half of the damage back to a range attacker.

Tis but Scratches Rules of Combat. All monsters gain Cripple ability which decreases the attack target's max health by 1 when hit. Even if the damage is 0, as long as the attack hit, Cripple activates.

All elements unlocked except for Earth, Life and Dragon Elements. Summoners and Monsters from this element cannot be used during this battle.

Summoner: Thaddeus Brood: Good Summoner during Fire and Regret to reduce the damage of any magic damage monster since no one will use range monsters as their back row due to effect of Return Fire.

1. Chain Golem: Good tank due to combined abilities of Shield and Void reducing all non-poison damage by half.
2. Venari Marksrat: Placed in between two monsters you want to boost the stats to make as a carry.
3. Silent Sha-Vi: High damage for a 5 mana cost with Sneak ability to attack from any position.
4. Uraeus: Same as Silent Sha-vi but on a less scale.
5. Carrion Shade: A 1 mana filler with Flying which helps evade Melee Sneak attacks.
6. Corpse Fiend: 0 Mana cost monster to act as a blocker for opponent's possible Sneaks.

ᗪIᗪ YOᑌᖇ ᔕTᖇᗩTEGY ᗯOᖇKEᗪ?

Yes. The main point of using Martyr monsters are to make them die so they would boost the stats of your other monsters who would do the carrying for you. The earlier they leave the battlefield, the more impact they can do.

With Fire & Regret rule of combat, you are sure that those Martyr range monsters will die. It's not a matter of how but when in which you would activate their effects and the other monsters will take you to victory just like what I did with Chain Golem and Silent Sha-vi.

ᗯᕼᗩT ᗯIᒪᒪ YOᑌ TᖇY ᗪIᖴᖴEᖇEᑎTᒪY ᑎE᙭T TIᗰE?

Due to very limited mana, I don't think I would do anything different. However, you're feeling risky, Cornealus with Fernheart is also good in this match. The Return Fire damage will either be 1 up to 3 depending on the range damage of your Cornealus. However, his heals will be a minimum of 4. This means that even though Cornealus gets damaged from the said rule of combat, his self heals can eliminate the damage he gets.

Fernheart serves as a backup in case your front line monsters die so Cornealus will have Close Range ability to attack on the front lines. Then, surround Cornealus with Venari Marksrat and Fungus Flinger to have a hyper carry Cornealus that would take out the opponent's team one by one.

Martyr monsters on Fire & Regret Rules of Combat

? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒏𝒐𝒕?

Yes. Most, if not all, Martyr monsters are ranged. The Return Fire ability that your opponent monsters gain from the said rule of combat allows you to have a sure shot of killing your own Martyr monsters that would serve as a preparation for the other monsters to carry the game.

It is the same idea as Earthquake and Noxious Fumes rules of combat. Since there's a way to eliminate your own Martyr monsters without relying on your opponent's attacks, they are very good in these three rule of combat.
