How Yesterday defined Mother's Day
Before anything else, my greetings of a Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there.
And by "moms" I mean all the moms either biologically or adoptively, by choice, by chance, no choice and all those who embraced being a mother.
Celebrating Mother's Day
Yesterday was mother's day here in the Philippines.
My husband planned on going to the mall for him to buy driving glasses. He was constantly complaining about the glare of the sun when he is driving so he decided to buy a polarized sunglass.
However, I was feeling under the weather that I told him to go. I would stay at home with our kid.
I knew he was dumbfounded as he said he won't go if we weren't going.
Later on, I was overthinking again. He never greeted me. Maybe I don't deserve it. Maybe I wasn't a good mom after all.
I slept anyway with my kid beside me.
When I woke up at noon, he entered the room smiling telling me to go so we can dine outside to celebrate mother's day.
Ha! Turns out he remembered or maybe he saw the news and only then remembered it. (To my husband, if you are reading this, I know you didn't know it in the morning. No need to feel guilty.)
Anyway, I still wasn't feeling well but I had to buy some basic necessities so we prepared to go.
We went to the mall together with my mom-in-law, our niece and our son.
My husband looked after our son while I did the groceries.
Afterwards, I didn't feel like eating so we just had some snacks.
I also ordered some milk tea as our drinks.
When I arrived in the table, my husband has already ordered Ilocos Empanada, also one of my favorite snacks. (Ha! He knew.)
And I also went to order fries for our son. He likes it but we seldom buy it for him.
We were already full after the snacks so we decided to go home. Besides, it was already getting late.
At home, I took some medicine and slept while my husband looked after our son.
I imagined a celebration for the day but I couldn't really pull it with my condition.
Turns our mother's day isn't just for me. It's also for my husband who becomes a mom and dad to our son when I'm not available.
And it isn't just for yesterday, it's for everyday. For I acknowledge I am not available 24/7 to our son.
You are very much appreciated.
By the way, here's the mug he gave me.
It was a free mug given by the optical shop where he got his sunglasses which he in turn gave to me.
Happy mother's day @katey-cate!
Your husband is clingy, I didn't know! 😅 But maybe he just really wants to spend everything with you - including getting those glasses. 😊
Happy mother day.
