A megaweekend of Lost Ark ~ day one

The weekend is here and I'm at it again! I'm playing Lost Ark practically non-stop and I'm going to be sharing my experience today and tomorrow. 💃🎉

Over the week I didn't really do much. I worked on hunting for Mokoko Seeds and various Adventurer Tome completions, and slowly worked my way through helping the Mokoko People on Mokoko Island. MOKOKO.

I thought that area was pretty spiffy actually. When I first encountered the Mokoko People in my Stronghold, I was horrified that these leprechauns were taking up residence on my land, singing terrible songs to me. But the people on the island were much better. They shrank me down to their size and even gave me a ladybeetle for a mount!

I also finally got to spend my Mokoko Seed points and claimed my rewards.

After finishing up on their island, I sailed around on my ship for a bit but most of the islands I landed on had level 50 enemies on them... so I decided to just keep following the story for now until I was at a more appropriate level for island hopping.

This took me to the great continent of Anikka! Where I participated in and won the great martial arts tournament.

Boobs.

And won the ability to transform into a great lion!

I have to say it's a bit of environmental whiplash though: going from a medieval continent, to a leprechaun island, to a stereotypical asian continent, to a vast technological mecha-city.

The world of Arkesia is everything rolled into one.

Whilst finishing up the story on the asian-themed continent of Anikka, I at last ding'd level 50 and suddenly more stuff was available to me and I could see a list of events happening on a dropdown at the top of the screen.

They say that the game doesn't truly begin until level 50 and I'm here at last!

Selfie_20220219_Kaelci_016.jpg

The first thing I've noticed as a fresh level 50 character is that suddenly my XP bar requires a monumental amount of XP to increase further. I'm not too sure what the level-cap in this is at the moment, I think it's level 55, but I'm fairly sure it's not 50 considering I have a stronghold quest that requires I be level 52.

Now that I'm level 50, apparently I can now officially use a "powerpass" to instant-level a new character to level 50 too. That's great!

I'm not one of those people who enjoy boosts though. I need to learn my character from the start in order to be able to play that character. It's bad enough that in this game you start with six abilities right off the bat. I prefer the slow slog of, "Start with 1 or 2 skills. Use them. Level to 6. Get a new ability. Learn to incorporate it in your routine. Ding level 10. Another ability. Learn to incorporate it."

So I won't be using these power passes. 😅

Also, the dungeon in the image above was the trippiest freakin' dungeon. I could barely concentrate on where my person was, where the boss was, where my allies were, just, what the heck was happening. 😱

I've been enjoying the dungeons so far and I've just completed one where we all got to climb into mechas!!

But that trippy yin-yang one really threw me.

My first day of my mega-weekend has ended with me being the illustrious level 50, my stronghold is level 11, and my roster (account) level is 29. And according to Steam I've played for 89 hours, which is a lie xD I have it open while AFK a lot of the time to make sure I don't have to suffer through a queue.

I am currently located in the vast technological mecha-city of Arthetine, where apparently a small blonde child is wreaking havoc.

I feel as though I still have a fair chunk of story to go through, especially considering I've only found 2 of 7 Arks. And I'm still taking my time going through everything. I'm thinking of dedicating tomorrow to island hopping now that I'm level 50.

I got a couple more tutorial quests to do with my ship now that I've hit level 50 and it'll be nice to just sail around and explore these teeny tiny islands all over the place.

It would also be nice, though, if the map told you which ones you've already visited.

Or maybe I should wait to island-hop during the week when I can't be so dedicated. Might as well make use of my dedication-time while I can and plough through things!

We'll see what happens on the morrow. 😊

There. Is. So much to do!!!!!!

Until tomorrow! 💃✨🎶

I was able to unlock the dungeons and I'm in pvp mode and I think I'm going to stop doing the main quest because I'm going to die xd

Whereabouts in the main quest are you?

I mean, as long as you're level 50 I think you can start doing other things that aren't just main quest lol. People have made it to end game in literally one day just skipping through the quest ASAP and not paying attention to it. I really don't think the quests are that much of a big deal. xD

How is the pvp? I've never really been much of a pvp person, mostly because my experience is either high level idiots making life difficult for low level people, or battleground type things.

I just couldnt get into Lost Ark....Im not a big fan of Jrpgs in general and this game took up 70 gig of space which I just couldnt justify.

Glad to see your enjoying it tho :)

Quick question....Spell Master - The Saga....ever heard of it?

I hadn't until like 5 or 6 days ago when a video about it popped up in my youtube recomened list...It was realesed 2 days after that so I jumped in to see what it was like...

Apparently its heavily inspired by the Gothic series of games and done by a 2 man dev team which is insanely impressive!

I have footage and screenshots to write up my first impressions post tomorrow, long story short its hands down game of the year 2022 so far for me....Im way more impressed with it than I thought I would be...

Its early days, Im only 1 hour into it but already theres so many boxes ticked to what makes a great rpg Im super excited to play more.

Its open world and a totally new ip that was only released 3 days ago.

I would LOVE tosee more hive gamers start cover it soon.I am all in for documenting it and creating content based around it.

Ill write up my post and upload my footage tomorrow but if you have the time check it out, I have a feeling you'll love it :).

Just had a quick look at it on the Steam store and it definitely looks like my type of game. Just looking at the screenshots and reading the description, it actually reminds me a lot of Outward, which is another open world RPG that I really need to dive into. (I played it for a bit, noticed it had co-op capabilities, stopped playing incase my partner wanted to give it a try too.)

But yeah, it definitely looks like my type of game! Thanks for mentioning it! 😃

Yeah the comparison to Outward is right on.

I played Outward on Ps4 for maybe the first few hours and ended up trading it in after that.

I enjoyed the time I spent in that game and might end up going back to it someday.

Spell Master feels more like my kinda thing right out the gate tho ,its hard to say exactly why right now, it just ticks so may boxes right from the get go.

Ill try and sum up my thoughts about it when I make my post and upload the footage I have tomorrow.

Did you ever play any of the Gothic games? I never got round to picking any of them up but I have watched some lets plays. I can see where these devs got the inspiration for this title.

One other thing , did you ever play Everquest 2?

I read in their forums they are opening a brand new Lore and Legend server on Feb 22nd.Its giving new players the first 7 of EQ2's expansions to play around in but every new character starts at lv 90 with a full set of gear.

Going to lower level zones will auto scale a character to that zones content level so basically grinding exp is not a thing and the focus is on experiencing content without worrying about levels or gear.

It sounds really interesting ,Ive never seen any MMO do that before....7 expansions open on day 1 of the server launch is an insane amount of content.

The main thing is gaining achievement's for completing content and getting a place on the achievement leader board.

If you haven't played Everquest 2 before it might be worth taking a look at, I will definitely be jumping in on the 22nd,we could colab and make some vids.I know the content of EQ2s first 4 expansions really well ,not to familiar with everything after that tho.

Here is the announcement post which gives some more info.

I've looked at Everquest before but wasn't really interested in it, I'm a bit picky when it comes to MMOs. 😅 And having just started in Lost Ark and actually enjoying it I won't be starting a new MMO for quite some time! I think I've found my MMO-Home for the year.

I never played any of the Gothic games, I only really noticed them a couple of years ago and to my eye they appeared a bit too dated to really give a try now. I'm not against older games, I still happily play Morrowind on occasion. But unless it's exceptional, getting used to old clunky controls and animations and things isn't really my cup of tea.

Just wondering, does this Spellmaster the Saga have character customisation? Just had a quick google and there was a steam discussions thread asking the question a couple of years ago when it was in early access, but I didn't really see a definitive answer.

There is no character creation at the start no ,I guess the way you customise the character is by the way you choose to acquire and develop the different skills. There isn't even the option to pick male or female which now that I think of it is kinda strange.

I need to dig deeper into it really. It seems right from the start the whole world is open to explore and go where you want but with the first 2 quests leading you in a certian story arc.

I'm only an hour into it but already discovered some interesting mechanics that I havent seen in other games...I had a fight with a wolf that killed me the first time I tried to fight it. On the second attempt I backed away after hitting it with a fireball and a staff attack, when I crossed a river it wouldn't follow to attack me, like it was scared of the deep running water...I thought that was pretty cool and I guess kind realistic.

I think the reason I never played the Gothic games is similar to yours , looks dated and clunky even if it does have alot of interesting things going for it.

Ive tried a few times to get into the original Everquest but could never get past the dated graphics there.

Everquest 2 on the other hand I have alot of time for, it was the first MMO I ever played way back in late 2004, I stayed with it for the first few expansions which was up until around 2010.Its still one of my favourite games of all time, I get hyped every time there's a new speciality server.

New servers are always interesting especially on launch day ,I have a hell of alot to say about EQ2 but I will save it for a post next week when I find out exactly what this Lore and Legend server has to offer.
