My latest collage artwork – “Emerald tree on a saffron sea” – minted as NFT on Hive blockchain

This is more of my latest collage artwork, just completed and minted as an NFT (non-fungible token) on the Hive blockchain. As with my usual style of creation, I have made this collage by using old magazine pictures which I cut out and glue to an A4 page using scissors and glue. So this is a physical work initially, which has been scanned and uploaded to mint as an NFT, thanks to blockchain technology. By using found images from magazines, mostly around thirty years old, I am recycling old items in a most original way. I have totally reworked and reinvented the images so that they look nothing like their originals.

This style of actual handmade art is rare in the NFT space where most creators use digital software to make their artworks. I am perhaps one of the few who continue to use old school hand crafted work which is then minted as new school token on the latest blockchain technology. You could say it’s the marriage of old and new, a cutting edge creation, with me cutting all the edges (that was an intended pun).

My favorite subject matter can be seen here and is a recurring theme, namely that of sci-fi or space scenes which conjure up a fantasy world of surrealistic impressionism. You could call it something like a mix between the nineteenth century impressionist artists like Monet and the twentieth century Surrealist style of artists like Salvador Dali.

In this work you can see the color theme of emerald green on saffron orange, thus the name of the work. With four small boats being rowed by their intrepid navigators in the image, it appears to be a churning ocean. Yet on closer inspection it also looks like outer space, with planets floating about. The green planets are more like asteroids.

From the base of the image springs two twin trees, as if emerging from a hole in the ground or a volcano. They look like trees yet could also be something else too. The overall impression is abstract and left to the eye of the beholder to interpret. The tree appears to be shedding some fruits, which spring from the branches like green splashes. The splashes then seem to land on the green asteroids and become emerald gemstones.

One the far right we can see a Japanese Samurai who looks like he is mining the emeralds. Similarly next to him on the next asteroid, a pair of twin siblings – brother and sister – no more than five years old, are seen also harvesting the emeralds, filling their boat. The idea is that of seekers rowing out on the wild saffron ocean swell to perform their yield farming, mining, harvesting or general collecting of these emerald treasures which have sprung from the central twin trees.

You could call these central twin trees the tree of life, and perhaps the tree of knowledge, originally seen in the first book of Genesis in the Bible, found in the original Garden of Eden. At the top of each tree is a single green heart, like a fruit on the branch. The color green is associated with the heart and its accompanying chakra in Vedic symbolism. It looks like the sailors are looking for or also mining for a heart of gold and green.

The color combination is stunning and well juxtaposed, with the two main colors dominating the entire scene. In the background behind the twin trees is a giant spiral, an organic and natural shape like a spiral galaxy, meant to represent a symbol of wholeness, of the center, and of the most obvious symbol of the harmony of nature. It is seen everywhere in nature from the biggest galaxies to the smallest sea creatures and to me suggests an overall single original source creating everything in existence.

This spiral pattern is the fingerprint of god seen in mathematics as the Fibonachi sequence or ratio. It comprises of the “golden ratio”, 0.618 which is also much loved by cryptocurrency traders and in fact all economists and traders in the financial markets of the world. It is a popular pattern for those who understand pattern recognition in charting of technical analysis of all currency and stock market price movements and trends.

I have minted the usual three editions of this artwork, two of which are up for sale for only 21 Hive coin. The number 21 is specific fibonachi number in the sequence and pattern of the golden ratio. I recommend adding this original collage artwork to your NFT collection now, since there are only two available, the third I will keep for my personal portfolio collection.

Also Hive coin is currently on a discount though it will be doubling and tripling in value in coming months, so right now this artwork is going at a bargain price in dollar terms and will make a good investment as a cryptocurrency token in its own right, with time. Art has always been a good store of value and an investment for collectors and today the NFT genre is the modern equivalent where you can collect digital art for your cyber gallery.
